Their Love Was a Beautiful Disaster but She's Learning to Recover

She knew the deep, treacherous valleys of heartbreak all too well. Not from loving an undeserving boy, but from life itself.

He'd known devastating heartbreak, brought on by actions one would never wish on their most hated enemies.

As much as she hid it, as much it terrified her, she wanted an earth-shattering love. So she fell.

She fell because he was the only one who took her awkward moments in stride. He didn’t run away like all of the others, he handled them flawlessly. It was pure magic in her eyes.

He reminded her of her dad, the one person who has always been there for her. He always knew exactly what to say to calm her nerves.

She fell in love first with his mind and heart, then with the way his touch made her feel instantly intoxicated.

She craved him in the best way possible.

She just wanted someone who would love every flaw she saw within herself. Someone she could just lay next to, tracing every inch of their skin.

She fell not purposefully, but cautiously. So cautiously that she didn’t even realize just how far down the rabbit hole she'd fallen.

But who could blame her?

She'd found someone who added more to her life than she'd imagined was possible. Someone who felt like the one she'd waited her entire life for.

But she found someone who wasn’t ready for her. Someone with too many open wounds to love her the way he knew she deserved.

He tried to be everything she needed, but he wasn’t and he knew that wasn’t fair to her.  So he let her go. He left without giving her any idea of how he truly felt about her.

She'd honestly thought he felt the same way she did due to the words he'd say and the way he held her so tightly.

She assumed she must have interpreted him wrong because he let her go, seemingly without a second thought.

She felt like something was wrong with her. How could just one piece of a pair have all of these feelings?

She tried everything possible to get him off her mind: rebounds, new relationships, telling herself he didn’t want her, anything. But nothing worked.

Finally, she accepted he was always going to be in her heart. She decided she would always hold out hope for his return, even if it leaves her feeling a bit broken.

So, every day she misses him. She misses his laugh, his energy, his dreams and his soul. She yearns to tell him about her day and hear about his.

But she’s learning to keep walking forward, and that is the hardest part of all.

I am essentially a mermaid living in a landlocked state. I am a girl who isn't afraid to write out parts of her story, in hopes of helping those who need to hear these words. I am first and foremost a singer and songwriter, who wants to tell her stories in other ways beyond music. And a dreamer who's mind has no boundaries.  Twitter handle: arielcurrant Facebook URL: https://www.facebook.com/arielcurrantwriter
