They Were Your Person and Now They're Gone

Who do you talk to about all of the things that go on in your head when you no longer have your person?

No matter how you lost them, they were your person.

You told them everything, you were more yourself with them than with anyone else. You told them things you didn’t even realize you were thinking.

You spoke with them differently, it just flowed. You didn’t need to worry about anything and they just understood you. They understood your humor and the way your brain worked.

You felt at peace because no matter what, they were there and you didn’t need to explain anything to them. They just got it.

So when that connection is gone, what do you do?

There’s no one who can give you that same feeling of peace, of home. You try talking to different people, opening up to them but it’s not quite the same.

Nothing seems the same. You can’t fully be yourself except when you’re by yourself.

They unlocked all of the levels to you and it takes a while to build that up with someone. You don’t really want to do that right now, you just want someone you can fully be yourself around because anything else is exhausting.

Having to watch what you say, how you say it, with whom you say with; it’s exhausting. Having to explain things over and over again; it’s exhausting.

You just want some time to talk with someone that doesn’t require you to recharge after.

So I guess it just keeps being exhausting until one day it’s not.
