Valentine’s day is all about roses, chocolate, and sexy time, right? WRONG. (Well, not completely wrong but we’ll get to that).
It’s time to stop being cliche on Valentine’s day, and I’m here to help you with that — here’s what she really wants:
1. First things first — it’s okay to be a LITTLE cliche.
Now I’m not talking planning this extravagant cliche night with one teensy weeny personal touch. I’m talking use your brain and plan time with your girl specific to her. But adding in a giant teddy bear, a bouquet of roses, or a ginormous heart shaped box of chocolates is 100% acceptable.
2. Jewelry isn’t just a diamond ring.
Now I know a lot of you goon heads think “oh lord ain’t nobody got time for that,” but I mean really — a diamond ring isn’t the only thing in our vocabulary. Ever heard of Pandora (not the music app you idiot)? If the answer is no, pandora dot net my friend. You’re welcome.
3. Dinner and a relaxing evening.
We aren’t these overly high maintenance creatures like you think we are. In fact, we’re fairly simple. Feed us and treat us to a full body massage and we’re golden.
4. Three words, one dark meaning — Fifty Shades Darker.
Yeah that’s right, volunteer yourself for this exotic night and you’ll save yourself a lot of pain, sweet cheeks. Surprise your girl with tickets to the new Fifty Shades movie and Christian Grey won’t be the only one scoring big (you can thank me later).
5. Handmade over store bought.
Handmade gifts are always a win-win. Get creative with it, save yourself five bucks, and hit that soft spot right in the middle of her heart. After all, Hallmark ain’t got nothing on you.
6. Show her off.
It doesn’t take a lot to please us, in fact, simply just showing us off on your snapchat the whole night makes us giddier than a kid in a candy store. Hashtag snap story on fleek.
7. Treat her like the queen that she is.
This one really shouldn’t need much explaining, if any at all. Just love her, be proud to show her off, and show her to the world. But really, this should be an everyday thing.
Basically, to narrow this whole thing down: a little clicheness, thoughtful moments, and love never ending. Or if you can’t get in touch with your emotional side — roses, chocolates, and a giant stuffed teddy bear (holding a bottle of champagne).
Valentine’s day shouldn’t be any different than any other day, really. But an extra someting-something is what it’s all about.
