To The Guy That Walked Away, Thank You

When you walked out of my life, I wasn’t sure why.

I didn’t know if it was something I did, something you said. I wanted to be everything you ever wanted and it took me a while to learn that I never would be.

So for that, I thank you.

I thank you for showing me how brave I can, how easily I can move on when something, or in this case someone, wasn’t right.

Thank you for teaching me that not everyone I care about is worth it.

You weren’t.

I spent so much time hating you for what you did, how you treated me, that I forget to remind myself that it was so much more about me than you.

So no, I wasn’t your idea of perfect.

I wasn’t who you thought I was and I couldn’t be more proud of myself.

For not changing for you.

You don’t destroy the people that care about you, the people that love you.

And it took you leaving me to see that.

I don’t want a sorry, I don’t even want an explanation. You gave me all that I needed when you said nothing at all.

So thank you for that.

Thank you for being more wasted time. You’re barely a memory now. So thank you for leaving so I could find myself.
