Get out there.
And I'm not saying it in terms of putting yourself out there and to actively seek to be in a relationship. I'm saying get out there and enjoy the radiance you can bring to yourself. I'm saying get out there to witness the flowers bloom in spring and relive the first drop of snow. I'm saying get out there to live life- the way you should and the way you're meant to be.
It's easy to get caught up with the movies, the books, the fantasies and the fairy tales of a romantic love story sprouting from a first glance and ending in sparks and fireworks. It's easy to get caught up with the everyday couples you see on the streets, the alleyway, the club, the train, the bus and your route to and from home. It's easy to get caught up with the promotions you see on TV and the stories you hear from your friends, colleagues and loved ones. And from there, it's easy to forget.
It's easy to forget that you are a person of your own- a person who has your own way of doing things and has become great at it. It's easy to forget that you can make decisions on your own and that you can do whatever you want. It's easy to forget the memories you make with your friends and family and truly focusing on them. It's easy to forget that you have lived happily on your own- despite what brought you to your current situation. You have lived- not for your friends, family, loved ones or anyone else. You have lived for yourself.
You've explored the world in your own eyes. You've made judgments, bad decisions and have learned from it. You've taken yourself out to dinner. You've given yourself a break. You've achieved things on your own. You've possibly messed up your itinerary and fixed it up on your way at the same time as well. There's also a good chance that you've hooked up with random strangers after a big night out which you don't have to feel guilty for doing so.
There are so many things you've accomplished, experienced and have gone through on your own. And you know what, you should never forget that. In fact, it's important that you keep doing it.
It's important that you keep being yourself- choosing and deciding whichever it is that you want to do because you can. You can run at 3 in the morning, have a big plate of eggs, bacon and hash browns for breakfast when you get back and get a soy latte on your way to work. You can go museum-hopping at a drop of a hat. You can take yourself out, watch the movies you want and just be who you want to be. There are no limits. It's only you and your mind- and what you can physically do.
And it's the most beautiful thing we sometimes overlook. So while we can, let's cherish it.
If in time, someone comes along as you embark on another journey, greet them and be yourself- your awesome true wonderful self. Because you know what? You've been with yourself long enough to know that you are pretty amazing. So if no one has told you yet or you've forgotten to tell yourself this morning, let me just remind you that you're beautiful.
You are goddamn beautiful.
