"My weight? It is what it is. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow. It's about being content.. and sometimes other priorities win."
Melissa McCarthy said it best with this powerful quote about her size and how she hushes the haters.
Being plus size does not mean you are any less of a woman. Here are seven myths that all plus size women encounter at least once in their lifetime:
1. Plus size women are not active.
False! We can hike mountains, jump up and down on a trampoline, and go bike riding just as all sizes of women can.
2. The bigger the woman, the larger number of medical issues.
Although an excessive amount of fat in the body can cause unwanted health issues, so can genetics and certain diseases.
You do not have to be fat in order to have bad genes or a shitty immune system.
3. Plus size women dress poorly.
Actually, there are more and more plus size women speaking up about the stigmas of their body, and flaunting their big and beautiful curves every day.
Ashley Graham became a big advocate for the plus size community when she appeared as the first plus size woman on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2016, and might I add.. she slayed.
4. Plus size women have bad hygiene.
We wear deodorant and bathe regularly just as other women do. Hygiene is an area you choose to make a priority and not all women who do not make it such, are fat.
5. Plus size women cannot perform in the bedroom.
If anyone, especially a man, ever tells you that you wouldn't be "good at sex" due to your size, get rid of that negative shit!
Also, news flash.. you can be on top in the bedroom!
6. Plus size women only eat junk food.
No, we do not lay on the sofa in front of the television day in and day out shoveling cake and pie into our faces.
We can be aware of and invested in our health just as a thin woman can lack those healthy aspects in their diet. It goes both ways.
7. Plus size women are not sexy.
I am here to tell you that no matter the width of your hips, the roundness of your face, the pouch you call your tummy, the jiggle of your ass, or the number on the scale… YOU ARE SEXY!
Be confident, bold, and let the universe know that you are not ashamed of the beautiful being that you are. Now, go kill it!
