What To Tell Yourself When Stuck Between A Sippy Cup And A Glass Of Wine

It is an odd sensation to be stuck in the middle of childhood and adulthood. We've started to cross the bridge, but we're still sifting through the fog to get to the end.

You are still young enough to make mistakes and not pay dearly for them, yet old enough to know what mistakes you shouldn't still be making.

This morning, I compared this pocket of life to my mom while in a furniture store. After dragging around a shopping basket from the store that had wheels for easier pulling across the tiled floor, I discovered that it faintly reminded me of when I was young.

A lot of us probably remember the colorful lawn mower toy that popped around little colored balls as you pushed it around.

Bright and eye catching, we would push it across the grass and watch the colors swirl before our eyes in the little, plastic globe.

This toy is the perfect depiction of this part of our lives between childhood and adulthood. Although it appears to be a lawn mower, we all know that it can't actually cut grass. Even so, it's still good at what it's meant to be. A toy.

Although we look like full fledged adults, we're still growing into who we're meant to be. Still, it's okay that we're not perfect. We keep making strides to get to that point, and progress is all we can ask for.

We will have moments that make us cry due to happiness of where we are, and how far we've come. We'll also have moments where we crumble onto a heap on the floor, and feel like nothing is ever going to be right. Both are just normal.

If you look at your life so far, and feel as though you have a sippy cup in one hand, and a glass of wine in the other, relish the moment. It won't always be this way, and chances are you may miss it.

If you have to take a sip from both.
