It's so easy to get caught up in overthinking and dwell on every misstep you've made since kindergarten.
What's hard is forgiving yourself and remembering that mistakes are inevitable. You're going to mess up, but that's the greatest learning experience life can give you.
Mistakes build you, shape you, and form the solid foundation for who you choose to become. They show you what to avoid in the future.
They help you recognize (and hopefully understand) the hidden parts of your heart and show what makes you feel something intense when life becomes monotonous.
As much as your happiest moments have shaped your life, so have your mistakes. Whether you know it or not, they've brought you to moments of happiness.
They're the tiny voices in your head reminding you of which actions brought you backward not forward.
Mistakes suck, but they're a necessary evil.
You may think you can just watch others' mistakes, learn from them, and figure out how to avoid putting yourself in the same position.
Sorry, it's not that simple.
You have to date the wrong person, choose a job you hate, and lose friends. You have to feel tremendous pain as a result of your mistakes so you'll always remember not to make them again.
So be proud that you aren’t afraid to hurt because of something you've done. You're brave enough to face life's challenges and make the decisions you want to, despite the outcome.
Own your mistakes like the piece of you that they are because wishing them away will only weigh down your heart and overwhelm your mind.
