Why True Love Isn't A Disney Fairytale

They say that you will find the “one”. The one that makes you smile just even thinking about them. The one who gives you a warm feeling when you look across the room and see them looking at you.

I didn’t think I would be lucky enough to find this kind of love. Never did I think I would find a guy who would love me like he does. To this day it still blows my mind on how I got such a great guy.

Even though I got this amazing guy who treats me with the upmost respect everything is not this “fairytale” that Disney makes it out to be. Everyone is human, we all make mistakes, and guys can’t read our minds.

As little girls we have watched Cinderella and many other fairytales where we see the guy perfectly pursue the girl and win her over. We see the perfect wedding and a perfect glimpse into their future and that is what we expect for our lives, because that’s all we see.

Don’t get me wrong I love watching these kinds of movies. What I don’t like is the false hope it gives young girls. The happily ever after that movies portrays are very inaccurate. In real life you still get your happily ever after just in a different way,

When you get married you have to learn to live with each other, learn each other’s flaws, and pick your battles to fight. Marriage isn’t easy but it’s worth it.

You have to choose to love each other every day. When it gets hard or it’s not the perfect Disney movie people bail and marriages fall apart.

So to any girl out there who is married and thinking is this my real life Disney fairytale? The answer is YES YES it is.  Remember you only saw the highlights in the movies not the flaws.

A dream is a wish your heart makes

When you’re fast asleep

In dreams you lose your heartaches

Whatever you wish for, you keep.
