Everyone talks about wanting to meet someone that makes them feel the way music does, or the way coffee does, or the way that their favorite movie/book does, the list goes on and on, but what about those of us who have?
Do you realize how fortunate you are?
So many people in the world don't know what you have become so familiar with. So many people don't realize that they never will either.
But what about those people who have never experience it?
What they don't know is that it's so much easier to never know it and never have to go through the pain of losing it.
They never have to wonder if they’ll make someone feel the same way that they made you feel.
They'll never know the struggle that you go through day after day after day of trying to let go of that feeling; to get over it and understand that for the time being, and maybe every forever, you'll never know it ever again.
It's the constant reminders when it's pouring rain and the sky is a multitude of gray, gloomy clouds, when it's late at night and the dark consumes your cold bones, and when the world has come crumbling down around you and you think that to see even the slightest bit of light, you need to feel that feeling. You need to know that kind of soul firing feeling once more.
But here's the truth; you will always know that feeling. That feeling never dies, not really.
Thinking back on those memories and the moments in which you felt that way the most never go away.
“That’s when I realized that certain moments go on forever. Even after they’re over they still go on, even after you’re dead and buried, those moments are lasting still, backward and forward, on into infinity. They are everything and everywhere at once. They are the meaning.” -Before I Fall
The moments and the feelings last and they are the meaning that we live with. They are what give our lives the most meaning.
When you are old sitting in a rocking chair on your porch, you won’t think about working, cleaning, washing dishes, the fights, going to school, etc. instead, you will think about the things that have true, significance to your life.
You will think about the moments that your soul felt alive, the moments that you smiled until your face hurt, the moments in which you laughed so hard your sides hurt, and the moments that you were living in and realized that you never wanted them to end.
I'm not going to lie to you and say that you'll ever feel that way again because the honest truth is that you may never feel quite the same, but that's life for you.
What I can say is that you are so fortunate to have known the feeling at all.
The memories are what you choose to make out of them.
You can smile back on them and hold them dear to your heart like one of your very precious treasures, or you can be bitter about them. You can feel regret and heartache, anger, frustration and so many other negative feelings due to the fact that you will never live in them again.
I advise that you be grateful because, at the end of the day, it is always better to have lived life to the fullest than regret the chances you didn’t take.
