In this exclusive interview, Laura gives us the inside scoop on using feng shui for wealth, health and cultivating your inner self.

What are some basic tricks to increase wealth through feng shui?

Classical Feng Shui can fill a house with Foo dogs, firecrackers and the color red. For nearly all of my clients, these culturally rich symbols are not in alignment with their design aesthetic and I don’t blame them. You don’t need your home to look like a fast food Chinese restaurant to be flowing with prosperous chi! My top three tips are:

  • Clear the clutter and edit down even more. When you have breathing room in your home you are creating the space for prosperous opportunities to come in.
  • Feng Shui your mind. Are you always saying “I don’t have enough?” Change it to “I have everything I need.” Shift your perspective from thinking everything in your life is lacking to your life is abundant and you are filled with gratitude. The energy of thankfulness will beget itself and will magnetize those opportunities even more.
  • Keep your home neat and clean. An unclean home with dirty rugs, surfaces, floors and couches enhances a pervasive, neglected energy in your space and also yourself. By tending to your home with care and attention, you are manifesting abundance and richness that will also give you a positive, psychological boost.

What could be holding someone back from achieving success?

One of the most common setbacks I see when I am doing a Feng Shui consultation is subconscious sabotage. When there are deep seated issues, often the environment will be set up to unknowingly enhance that issue. For example, someone who has a fear of commitment will avoid hanging artwork, making big ticket purchases, avoid unpacking boxes or decorating their space.

If someone has a fear of change, chances are they have not updated their décor in eons. Your fears are the first thing to easily manifest in your space and can be the biggest stumbling block to achieving success. If you can honestly assess your challenges and personal shortcomings, then connect the dots to your immediate environment as you make adjustments, you are making huge leaps to achieving success.

What colors are best for your office or study room?

White, neutrals and light green are perfect colors for spaces where you need to focus and be productive. Also, aromatherapy sprays with certain essential oils like rosemary, grapefruit and frankincense are scientifically proven to enhance memory and concentration. (TheHolisticHomeCompany.com Aromatherapy “Study” Spray $12).

Best colors to wear on a job interview?

Avoid wearing fiery tones of reds and oranges on a job interview. Red is a strong, yang color and can come across as too aggressive and volatile – not attributes you want to endorse in that situation.

Black, white and grey are all acceptable colors and light blue promotes a feeling a feeling of loyalty and balance.

Try to sit in the commanding position if you have your choice of seat. It will give you an advantage of a subconscious boost.
