Finding A New Job Without Risking Your Current One

Stealth mode

No matter how much time and effort you put intojob hunting outside of your working hours, if you’re holding down a role at the same time it’s inevitable that at some point you’re going to have to communicate with your recruitment agency or potential new employer while you’re at work. If you don’t want your current boss or, indeed, any of your friends at work to know that you’re thinking of making a move, then you need to go into stealth mode.

It isn’t as difficult as it sounds because you simply just need to avoid making rookie mistakes, such as putting your work email or telephone details on any applications. Make sure that you’ve got a separate stand-alone personal email account for all job hunting needsBe prepared for your recruitment agent or a potential employer to call you on your cell during work hours, so you won’t be caught off guard.

Interviews

Although most initial interviews are conductedonline via video conferencing apps, at some point it’s inevitable that if you’re going to be successful in securing that new role, you’ll need to attend a face to face interview. Don’t be tempted to rush from your desk straight to a meeting. Take your time, compose yourself, read through your résumé, and any information and specifics that you have about the company and the role.

But above all, remember to believe in yourself and the skills, experience, and passion that you can offer.
