1. You’re the “wise one”
You’ve been there and done that. The older sister is the one that gets asked for advice on all life trials and tribulations.
2. You’re also the “cool one”
Whether they admit it or not, your younger sibling looks up to you.
3. You’re under pressure to be a good role model
Which helps you make better decisions. Sometimes.
4. You get to be proud when you set a good example
Then you can say things like: “Look at what I did!” and “You should be more like me!”
5. No hand-me-downs
Your younger sister had better appreciate your sense of style, because all your brand new threads will eventually be hers.
6. You always got first dibs
And as the oldest you pretty much have that whole “my way or the highway” thing down.
7. You get to be the protector
No matter how much you might fight with her, if anyone else messes with her, you’ll make sure that they regret it.
8. You’re not expected to follow in anyone’s footsteps
But if your doing a good job, your sibling will probably be expected to follow in yours.
9. You get to watch them grow up
You’re like a second mom to them and you’ve watched them mature. You got misty eyed when they went on their first date and threatened the life of the first boy that broke their heart.
10. You get to be proud
You know you played at least a small role in how awesome they’re turning out. You can say things like: “That’s my little sister.” and “She learned all that from me.”
