5. He makes you upset and does nothing to try and fix it.
When someone is in love with you, the only thing they hate more than seeing you upset in general is being the source of your unhappiness.
6. He says he thinks of you as a sister.
If he’s explicitly rejected the idea of you two as romantically involved, it’s because he’s not feeling it. He wants to make sure it’s clear that it’s all platonic.
7. He seemed very excited to know you until you showed your vulnerable side.
When someone truly loves you, they want to know your demons. It doesn’t scare them off because they don’t see your vulnerability as a weakness. When they love you they see that your vulnerability makes you human.
8. He tells you “you deserve better” than him.
He sees your worth but recognizes that you deserve someone that loves and treats you well. He’s being honest by admitting it isn’t something he can offer to you.
9. He’s okay with not seeing you for stretches of time, even though he says he likes hanging out with you.
You’re confused because you have a connection, but it’s not clear what it really is. He never confirms anything because he’s never really sure how he feels.
10. He never makes you feel safe and secure.
And he probably never will, at least the way that you truly need him to. You feel uneasy about the whole relationship (whatever it is), and if he’s not all in now, it’s unlikely that he will change his mind.
As it often happens, he’ll see you different light after you’ve moved on, and it’s too late. But it’s just not worth it to give your heart to someone who isn’t happily willing to do the same.
