7. Utilize virtual therapy and marriage classes
Stress and anxiety can do funny things to people. If you’re really struggling to get along under quarantine, why not use this time to strengthen your relationship via counseling?
There are many apps that offer virtual counseling sessions, or you can follow the online marriage class route!
Online marriage classes (like this one) are great because they improve patience and boost communication – two things we desperately need during a state of emergency!
8. Keep up with your date nights
I know what you’re thinking. “Isn’t every night date night while under quarantine?”
The answer is a hearty NO!
You may be spending all of your time together while social distancing, but spooning and watching Netflix hardly qualifies as a date night.
Date night needs to be a priority the way it was back when you were both still working. It should be exciting, fun, and romantic – something to look forward to.
Some quarantine date night ideas include:
· Cook a meal together
· Have a wine date on the back porch
· Have a picnic in the yard while asking get-to-know-you questions
· Planning out the perfect vacation for when airline restrictions have been lifted
· Reading a book back and forth together
· Do karaoke at home
· Get a book of sex positions and see how many you can master
· Drum up some great conversation – the kind that gives you butterflies or makes you go: “I can’t believe I didn’t know that about you!”
· Set up a tent, light up your firepit, and camp out in the yard
· Subscribe to a monthly ‘date night’ box (or a naughty monthly subscription box!)
· Stream a concert together
· Learn a new hobby as a couple
These are just some ideas of how to keep date night rolling amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
We’ve all been going through the motions of marriage in the age of the coronavirus. If you’re feeling depressed, uninspired, or irritated with your spouse for no reason – you aren’t alone!
Take positive steps toward building a better marriage while under quarantine by staying true to your daily routines, taking breaks from your spouse, and making date night an exciting priority.
