If it Doesn’t Challenge You, it Won’t Change You

The first thing that came to mind was taking time off from social media. Sounds silly, I know, and I think we could all use a break every once in a while to refocus ourselves on what is truly important. I am an old soul at heart and honestly a world with zero technology would be ideal. Sounds funny coming from the girl with a blog and one who is constantly documenting everything, doesn’t it?

This is something I have been thinking about doing for a while and yet, I have never succeeded with the challenge. What really got me to push myself was an article I recently read that really opened my eyes. The article was about learning to unplug from technology and how to become more present in the current moment. I believe I can speak for most people my age when I say I am horrible about this. I am constantly on my phone, texting, checking or posting on Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat.

Whenever I go somewhere new or even a place I’ve already been, I find myself picking up my phone to take pictures or see what others are up to. In this article, she spoke about how she made the decision to unplug herself from the outside world and focus more on being present. She found herself going to certain places and doing certain things for the sole purpose of being able to document it on social media. I think I can speak for most when I say I can relate to that statement.
