You Gave Him All Of Your Love

It never mattered what it was. Whether it was time, gifts, money, forgiveness, a friend, a lover, or a punching bag, you were there for it all, and you took it all. You gave in far too many times in hopes that the problems would go away. You sacrificed yourself for love, or what you thought was love.

You never came first. 

You never put yourself above his needs, and ultimately, you sacrificed pieces of yourself every time he came before you. You gave anything and everything time and time again, but it wasn’t enough. It never was, and you never got the same sacrifices in return. You constantly choose love, and he constantly took advantage of it. You didn’t see it then, but now you finally do.

Now, he is gone. 

You did your best and gave him everything, but in the end, it didn’t matter. The sacrifices you made were far too big and left you damaged. You had to choose yourself. You had to walk away. You hoped he would chase after you. You hoped he would fight for you, but he didn’t.

You walked out the door, and he didn’t even flinch as he watched you. You wish you could hate him. You wish you could see him and not still love him, but you do. You gave your heart to someone undeserving and unready for the love you offered and desperately wanted in return.

All you have is yourself.

You have to focus on yourself and make yourself a priority. You have to learn who you are and re-discover makes you happy. If you don’t, what will become of you? If you don’t, who will?
