How To Survive Christmas 2020 As A Last Minute Gifter

So it is offically, Christmas 2020. Are you one of those last minute gifters? You were the ones I served at the mall on Christmas Eve during Pre Pandemic times, with a billion bags and an exhausted laugh. But let’s be honest here, you GOT the shopping done– and you made some family and friends happy.

These days with COVID-19 CDC Holiday guidelines  some things are stacked against the gifting procrastinator. Holiday shopping has been altered. And at this point it is going to cost you an arm and a leg to ship your gifts. And because of the the pandemic, we are not spending time with our dearest, so there is no shoving it all in a suitcase and rewearing your clothes.

So what is a slow but sure, gifting girl to do? Fear not, because we have some simple last minute ideas to get you out of this not so merry mess.  Here are some on the quick gift ideas that are sure to please for Christmas 2020.

1.) Restaurant Gift cards

COVID-19 has hit our favorite restaurants especially hard. And organizations such as the James Beard Foundation are working tirelessly to support restaurants and their staff. You can help by getting gift cards to your nearest and dearest. Amazon Prime will get your gift cards out on the quick or alternatively, Virtual gift cards are the way to go. Support Restaurants while supporting your friends favorite dining locales.

2.) Virtual Gift Cards

Virtual is the easiest way to be on time with your gifts in Christmas 2020. So choose a store and get that virtual gift card emailed over to your special someone. Perhaps choosing a small business to support? Or going for the gusto and helping your friend on their fitness journey with a department store gift card? Amazon can rush the real thing or you can go straight to the store’s website to purchase your gift cards.

3.) Donate To A Charity In Their Name For Christmas 2020

Head over to Charity Navigator. They will rate and rank charities and categorize them for you. Sadly, most of us know someone close to us that has been affected by COVID-19. Check out their charity section to help support those affected here

4.) Send Flowers

Everyone loves flowers, and for most states and locations you can order by the twenty third and still get the flowers there by Christmas day. Check out Proflowers for a speedy delivery.

5.) Sponsor A Family

So many families this year are going without. But you can help a family and let the light shine on your friend or family member by sponsoring a family in their name. There are many organizations that offer this, but I think about the Salvation Army and I miss seeing Santa on the streets of NY with his bucket and his jingle jangle of hope and compassion.

6.) Personalize A Gift For The New Year

You can always “Personalize” the gift and make it a New Year, let’s leave Christmas and all of 2020 behind us kinda vibe. Goldbelly can offer some tasty dumpster fire delights, and just in time to ring in the new year!

For those who you really want to impress, it may be something as simple as a zoom or phone call or making them a holiday playlist. Just reach out the best way that you can. And keep your social distance, especially with the most vulnerable, like Grandparents.

Do Not Stress

Go easy on yourself. It has been a crazy year for everyone. So take the thoughtful gift time that you need and look at the above options to assure that you let that special someone and those dear to you like your besties know how much you care. And remember, the best gifts don’t cost a lot of money. Like penning a letter or poem or sending loving coupons to them. The best gift you can give is to let those you care about know that you are thinking wonderful thoughts about them from a Sweet But Safe, Social Distance.

Happy Holidays!
