Inauguration Day And A New Dawn. Can We Unite?

As I have sat and watched another President on inauguration Day,, I am filled with Hope. For so many reasons. We are sending so many messages to our fellow Americans and to the world. Biden called for Americans to Unite. The question remains, can we? Can we come together and will we stand untied?

Calls For Unity

Our country has been so divided. And we saw that unfold two weeks ago. However, we watched as Joe Biden called on every American to do what they could for their neighbor and to step in the shoes of those we disagree with just for a moment. Because when we do this, we find that we are  not very different, we are the same. So let’s put down the hate and come together for the good of the country. We will not see any change or get anything done if we keep allowing hateful rhetoric to fill our minds and hearts.

Every little girl seen she can dream big:

Watching Kamala begin her time as a VP,  we cannot deny that women are breaking barriers all over the place. Sitting with my baby sister and watched our very first female and female of color be sworn in. Then I watched women who rule our entertainment industry take the stage and sing their hearts out. Finally I watched a young woman stand and recite one of the most powerful poems I have every heard. Women where ruling and slaying it! It was one of the my proudest days as a woman and as an American.

We celebrated America

As we watched entertainers across all mediums come together on Inauguration Day, I was filled with so much hope. And after a day of calling for us to come together we were able to see so many people set that example for us to move forward. I was often left in tears knowing that we matter with tributes to the health care profession and to our teaching professionals. It was clear to me that they were celebrating the people who actually keep this country running the every day. Americans who work hard to keep it all together for us.

Yesterday, for me and many others was a day of great hope and great relief. I felt heard and I felt seen. And I felt like it is the start of us moving forward. It was also a reminder that for us to continue to progress we have to keep voting. Leadership matters, and in one day my faith for our country coming together in unity was restored!

So let Inauguration Day remind us all that your vote truly is your voice.

Emily Anne

Hi, my name is Emily and I am 26. I spend a lot of my time being a dog mom to my Irish setter, Annie and trying to be the very best girlfriend to my very best friend. I am a full time student and although I am not sure what I want my career to look like, I do know that I want to help people. I also work full time as a teaching assistant. Writing is one of my hobbies, which is what brought me to Puckermob. I love having a place where I can share my stories, the good and the bad. I love that I can share the things that have helped me through the hard times, as well as, all of the good things that are happening. I also love to read. Some of my favorite books right now are “Didn’t see that coming,” by Rachel Hollis and “Daring Greatly,” by Brene Brown. You can find me on Instagram where you can see all of my adventures with Annie, my boyfriend, and my baby-sister.
