The anticipation is maybe over. However, the excitement remains as we see the first woman of color become the nominee for a major party ticket as vice president of the United States of America. What does a nomination like this mean for America?
To me it means that we are still progressing. Yes, we still have major progress to do. However, we can take comfort in the fact that we are making moves in the right direction. Just think of the progress we as a nation could make if we have Vice President Kamala Harris in office next January. We can show the world that we value smart women of color.
To me this nomination means that I can tell my little sisters (who are bi-racial) that they can achieve anything they want to, and I can mean that. This is they type of dream that I have been waiting and hoping to see My America take and I am so proud that I will be on the right side of history when I cast my ballot this November.
To me this means that every woman in America will be believed when she puts out an accusation of sexual violence in any shape or form. This woman will fight for our rights and the rights of future generations. We are watching one of the strongest woman in congress move up in the ranks.
To me this nomination is not about money or power. No, this is a woman who has worked really hard to get to where she is. She is showing that with hard work and determination we can get what we deserve. This is the example that I hope my sisters and some day my children follow. Work hard, and do not back down. Keep up the fight for what is right and you will get what you deserve in the end.
Four years ago we watched as Hillary Clinton put about a ten billion cracks in the highest glass celling, four years later I want to see Kamala Harris shatter it. I want to watch as she takes the oath to serve this country and in four to eight years I hope that I get to cast my vote as president of the untied States of American. And I can think of no greater progress than watching the first woman of color become president. I am getting a little ahead of myself here.
Kamala, I just want to congratulate you on this victory. I want you to know that I stand with you and cannot wait to watch you and Mr. Biden take on this election and win! I cannot wait to see grace and kindness restore the office that I so loved growing up. I cannot wait to see the inspiration you bring to young girls of all creeds who decide that because you got there they will try. They will try to fight for this country because we are a great country and a country worth fighting for. I cannot wait to breath a sigh of relief when you and Mr. Biden take office in January. To know that Love and what is right had prevailed in the end. Thank you for accepting this great challenge and keep up the good fight because you are right this means more than just you. This means that our country will make the turn around it needs.
I am proud to say in November I am with Biden-Harris. And I will be voting. I will keep fighting. And I will have my faith in this country restored. For every reason that we have protested of the last four years. For all of the humiliation that we have had to endure. I hope you will join me in voting to restore America.
