I can understand wanting to display some positivity when the world today seems to revolve around misfortune. That is often my outlook. But enough is enough and when you’re truly passionate about something or have empathy for a cause, you cannot remain silent.
What it really comes down to is that these are people. Human beings. With families and souls and lives. Wrongly profiled and murdered in cold blood. And the simple fact is that this DOES NOT happen to white people. At least not in the same way. Not for their skin color.
I should be grateful, but it’s such a sad thing to me knowing that I can drive my car and have it break down and know that I’ll be helped and not shot for my skin color. I can stand outside of my own home and not be accused of attempting to burglarize it. Equality. That is what black people are begging for and have the right to possess.
Speak up, post, tweet, VOICE. Have passion and empathy. Feel your heart beat and know that ours all beat the same. They are fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, etc. Call me cliché- but we were created from the same source. We are made exactly the same. Equality has become such a complicated thing, when at the end of the day it should be as simple as; “treat others how you’d like to be treated”.
