Equipment you will need

Assuming you’re driving, you’ll need a car in good working condition with a full tank of gas. You should also have a map of the area you’ll be visiting and a GPS system or phone app to help with navigation.

If you want to add a whole new level to your adventure, you can stay a bit longer and enjoy camping. Imagine the peace of mind when it is just you, some amazing nature and the starry sky above you. For this adventure, you will need a sleeping bag, a tent, and some really durable cast iron cookware because there is no better thing than making some tasty food outdoors… take your cooking skills to the next level. Maybe you will make the next viral video showcasing some serious cooking/ survival skills outdoors.

If you’re staying in hotels, be sure to bring along your credit card and ID. And finally, don’t forget to pack your sense of adventure!

Appalachian Trail for ones with an appetite for adventure

The Appalachian Trail is a 2,180+ mile long trail that spans from Georgia to Maine. The trail is known for its stunning fall foliage, as well as its challenging hiking trails. While the entire trail takes several months to complete, there are many sections that can be done at a weekend or even a day hike. Whether you’re looking for a challenging hike or a leisurely stroll through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, the Appalachian Trail is sure to please.

No matter where you start, you have some really amazing adventures ahead. Some of the most famous sections of the Appalachian trail include:

– The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The 70,000-acre recreation area stretches across between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, a land marked by impressive oak-dominated hardwood forests and seasonal beauty.
– The McAfee Knob, the Dragon’s Tooth and Tinker Cliffs have been dubbed Virginia’s “Triple Crown” of hiking because these three sites are some of the best hikes in the state. You need to see it for yourself to understand the hype.
– Glastonbury wilderness… it had a significant place in history, being a hub for mining and lumber. Until the forest decided to reclaim it once again. So you can enjoy this fantastic scenery rich in spruce and birches.

Appalachian trail is rich in wildlife and legends as well. If you like to tell scary stories besides your campfire, you simply can’t imagine a better place. Not-a-deer or wendigo? We hope that you won’t be meeting these guys on your hiking trip but these stories will definitely elevate your experience and sense of adventure.

Gulf Coast in Autumn

The Gulf Coast is a beautiful place to visit in the autumn months. The weather is cooling down, but the days are still warm and sunny. This makes for perfect beach days or exploring all the unique attractions the Gulf Coast offers. We always recommend visiting popular Fall food festivals. For all foodies out there, you will get the opportunity to try some of the most fantastic seafood in your life.

The fall season is peak time for many types of seafood, so be sure to enjoy some while you’re here. And one bonus thing…shhhh… did you know that during the fall season you can easily get an upgrade when it comes to your accommodation? Venues and hotels are busy during summer and things become a bit slower in fall. Then you can enjoy fantastic accommodation on a budget. Fishing trips are also something worth trying.

Great lakes Michigan

The Great Lakes region is a beautiful place to explore in the fall. Michigan, which is called Michi Gami in the native Ojibwa language, was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago. The lakes created by this process are the natural icons of the state.

Make the most of autumn near Lake Michigan with a scenic drive on Michigan’s M-22. The route begins near Manistee, in Michigan’s prime fruit country, and is full of bright fall colors. You can visit amazing apple orchards and drink apple cider. Take time to admire fruit trees heavy with ripe fruit and stop at a roadside produce stand before approaching the dramatic hills and blazing colors of this scenic national park.

If you’re planning a road trip to the Great Lakes region this fall, be sure to add Michigan to your itinerary. Michigan is home to some of the most gorgeous scenery in the country, and there’s plenty to see and do here. From exploring the charming small towns to participating in outdoor activities, you’re sure to have a great time on your Michigan road trip.

Great river road

The Great River Road is one of the most scenic routes in the United States. It follows the Mississippi River from its headwaters in Minnesota to its mouth in Louisiana. Along the way, it passes through 10 states and hundreds of towns and villages.

Because the route follows the river, there are many places where you can get terrific views of autumn colors.

There are also many interesting attractions along the route. In Minnesota, you can visit the headwaters of the Mississippi at Itasca State Park. Further south, you can tour Mark Twain’s boyhood home in Hannibal, Missouri or take a steamboat ride on the Mississippi. In Arkansas, you can explore Hot Springs National Park or drive through the Ozarks. And in Louisiana, you can tour plantation homes or take a Swamp Tour to see alligators and other wildlife up close.

Whether you’re looking for scenic beauty or interesting attractions, the Great River Road is a great place to spend a fall road trip!

Fall Into these 7 Autumn Beauty Trends

Fall is here which means spooky season, pumpkin everything, cozy sweaters, and new beauty trends. Whether you’re a makeup professional or just dabbling here and there, there are some trends you need to try.

1. Natural Base Makeup

What is base makeup, you may ask? Think whatever you usually put on first: foundation, concealer, setting powder… The things that are the base of your makeup. This season, natural is in. For my people who may not feel like they can go natural (hello, acne-prone skin), there are ways to make your full-coverage makeup look natural so it looks like you’re not wearing a dang thing.

2. Cream Everything

Cream makeup users rejoice! Cream products are back in. With today’s market, no matter your skin type, you’ll be able to find cream products that work for you. Here are some foundations you can try based on your coverage preference:

  • Light coverage: it Cosmetics CC cream+ – think tinted moisturizer (usually with SPF)
  • Light-to-medium coverage: Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB cream – barely there, buildable coverage
  • Medium coverage: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – easily buildable coverage
  • Heavy coverage: e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation – fewer applications necessary

3. Soft-Lined Eyeliner

In the past, we’ve seen one trend for eyeliner be harsh, precise lines. This season, one eyeliner trend is softer application. What does this mean? Grab a q-tip and smudge those lines. For those with unsteady hands, this trend is made for you.

4. Burnt Blush

In the past, bubblegum blush was in. Bonus points if it had shimmer. For this fall, trade that bright pink for a darker, richer, red-ish pink. Think dark roses and brown-based colors. With these shades, you won’t need much, but just as darker-colored clothes come into play for the fall months, so should your blush.

5. Silver Inner Corners

There are a few great things about this trend. One: it takes virtually no time. Two: it looks like it took you waaaay longer than it did to do your makeup. Three: it will make you look more awake. Those are all worth-it things in my book. Makeup stores sell individual shades of grey, as well as cream or liquid forms you can dab in the corners of your eyes.

6. Goth/Smokey Makeup

I have been doing all-around black eyeliner since I first picked up a makeup product in middle school, and I know there are others who have, as well. For those of us, our trend is back! Goth makeup is back in. Think dark shadows, liners, lip colors, and anything else you can find in black, dark purple, or whatever other dark color that makes your little dark heart happy.

7. Glass Lips

Gloss is back in! This may not make it easy when it’s windy – I suggest investing in a claw clip for those days you want that glossy, glassy, mirror-like look. With just about every makeup brand that’s out there, you can find a glossy lip color, whether that’s colored, clear, or sparkly.

Fall is upon us whether we’re ready or not. Grab some friends and plenty of PSLs and hit up your local makeup store to stock up on products for autumn 2022.

12 Easy Costumes You Can Throw Together for Halloween

It’s time to nix Jim and Pam.

Halloween is a time to hang out with friends, eat candy, and dress up in great costumes. Of course, there is the typical alien, hippie, Jim and Pam… But, if you’re looking to elevate your costume game this Halloween, there are some costumes that will make you stand out in the crowd. And, even better, you can find these items on your own for a cheap DIY.

1. Scarlet Witch (Endgame)

Re-made famous by the recent show, Wandavision, a Scarlett Witch costume is both cool and easy. For the costume found in Endgame, you’ll need black pants, a red crop top or tank top, black boots, and a long, red jacket (or long sweater).

2. Loki (Loki on Disney+)

Another character re-made famous by a Disney+ show, Loki is the bad guy that everyone secretly loves. An easy costume would be one found in the TV show. You’ll need a grey suit, green vest, white shirt, and green tie.

3. Britney Spears (One More Time)

Celebrate the #FreeBritney movement and duplicate one of Britney’s iconic looks over the years. One of the easiest may be her look from One More Time which consists of a white tied shirt, grey sweater, black skirt, and black knee socks. And don’t forget the pigtail braids.

4. Cruella

The movie, Cruella, recently premiered and starred Emma Stone as none other than Cruella de Vil, herself. As soon as this movie came out, a huge emphasis was placed on fashion, since that was a majority of the plot. Because of that, there are several outfits you could use for Halloween. However, the easiest may be one of her all-black ensembles that includes a mid-length black skirt, black leather jacket, black gloves, and a cane. Tie it all together with a black and white wig you can find at just about any place that sells Halloween costumes.

5. Steve (Blues Clues)

Who can forget the moment not long ago when Steve from Blues Clues released a heartfelt video message? It definitely brought back nostalgia to the kids who used to watch that actor on the show before he left. Thankfully, the costume is very easy to replicate, if you’re looking to relive your childhood. All you need are khaki pants, a white collared shirt, and a green striped sweater.

6. Olivia Rodrigo

I think we all can agree that Olivia Rodrigo took the music world by storm. Between her catchy songs, incredible talent, and bubbly personality, we’ve grown to love her and her music. For an easy Olivia Rodrigo costume, all you’ll need is a pink tank top, a blue plaid skirt, some jewelry, and tons of stickers for your face. If you have a hard time keeping the stickers on, get some lash glue that is safe for your skin.

7. Bridgerton Characters

Although it seems like more work, dressing up as these iconic characters is much easier than it seems. Your best bet is to go to a thrift store and check out their dresses and/or. Nine times out of 10, you’ll be able to find something that fits the Bridgerton vibe.

8. Mabel Mora (Only Murders in the Building)

Only Murders in the Building is a whodunit show that is streamed through Hulu. The story follows three people who start a podcast to figure out who killed someone in the building they live in. Mabel Mora, played by Selena Gomez, is one of those people – and her outfits are incredible. To dress up as her, you’ll need a yellow sweater, a yellow or orange jacket, checkered pants, a yellow beanie, black boots, sunglasses, and a pair of big headphones (preferably red).

9. David Rose (Schitt’s Creek)

Another easy costume is David Rose from Schitt’s Creek – the TV show that totally took comedy to the next level. One of the most lovable characters, David Rose, has some great outfits that are easy to replicate. One of the most popular ones is the black and white outfit that he wears which can be made from a black and white sweater, black leggings or pants, a black skirt, and white sunglasses.

10. Beetlejuice

One of my favorites (and my costume this year) is none other than Beetlejuice. This iconic Halloween movie features many incredible characters to copy, but the most popular is Beetlejuice, himself. If you’re looking to copy the costume as close as possible, try and find a vertical black and white stripe suit. If not, you can improvise, much like I am this year. For a DIY version, you’ll need a vertical black and white shirt or jacket, black pants, black boots, and green hair spray (for an extra bonus, check out two makeup products I found specifically for my Beetlejuice costume).

11. Harley Quinn – The Suicide Squad

Not to be confused with Suicide Squad, the sequel to the original movie came out and featured several of the classic characters from the first movie – one of which being the infamous Harley Quinn. Harley got a drastic makeover in the second movie which makes her outfits perfect for this Halloween. You can copy one of the most popular ones with a frilly red dress, black combat boots, and two low pigtails.

12. Joe and Love (You)

Season three of the beloved TV thriller, You, dropped on October 15, with a promise of season four following soon. In seasons one and two, we (unfortunately) fell in love with two psychopaths. Why? You’ll have to watch the show and find out. Needless to say, these costumes will be hot this year. For Joe, all you’ll need is a baseball cap, blue shirt, dress pants, and a belt (bonus if you carry a book). For Love, there’s a lot of outfits you could go with, but the most iconic is one she wore at the end of the season (if you know you know). For that, you’ll need a low-cut cropped peach or tan cardigan, a long necklace, hoop earrings, and jeans.

If you haven’t given much thought to a Halloween costume for this year, take a look at the above list and see if there are any that you can piece together. Grab a friend, go thrifting, and enjoy the rest of spooky season!

6 Ideas to Add to Your Fall Bucket List

1. Go Apple/Pumpkin Picking

You can never go wrong with starting the season off with a solid fall bucket list, starting with some good apple picking. Running from tree to tree finding the best ones are just plain fun to do, and then you get to continue the fun at home! There are so many recipes waiting between the kitchen and that bag of freshly picked apples. Apple pie, applesauce, apple fritters, cameral apples; the possibilities are endless!

Pumpkin picking might have to wait for later in the season but, nonetheless, it’s all the more enjoyable. Rummaging through the pumpkin patch looking for the perfect decoration to sit on your front porch never gets old. Then when it comes to carving, you let your imagination run wild. Spooky ghost or silly face always looks theatrical when lit up on Halloween night. Can’t forget roasting those pumpkin seeds!

2. Fall bucket list goal– Attend a Festival

This time of year there is a 101 festival to meet every one of your fall bucket list needs. Craft tables galore and a cup of hot apple cider always hit the spot. Not to mention the weather is just right. You’re able to enjoy the colorful leaves falling and the hustle and bustle out in the community.

3. Munch of your favorite fall treats

Curling up on the couch with a pumpkin spice latte and a bowl of chili really hits the spot. Whatever your go-to food is this season, enjoy! Soups are my personal favorite; a great way to warm you up on a chilly October day.

4. Decorate the house

On the first day of September, I take my stuff down from the attic. Fall leaves, pumpkin, scarecrows – the whole nine yards. Decorate your home with those fall colors that will for sure warm your house up. Scented candles add the final touch!

5. Corn maze and hayride

Find in your inner child again and take a hayride or find your way through a corn maze. Taking those bumpy rides or twisting through turns is family fun you’ll never forget.

Fabulous Ideas for Fall Party Themes

The arrival of fall may have a different effect on your psyche depending on your personality. For some people, it’s the most colorful, picturesque, and exciting part of the year, while it has the opposite effect for others. Others find it depressing, cold, and muddy, which is soon reflected in their mood. Still, it’s a part of our lifecycle, and it is in our best interest to try and get the most out of it.

A month and a half into the fall, we usually have a huge Halloween party, but why wait this long? Why not make an early theme party in order to get everyone going? You can use this as an opportunity to gather friends, neighbors, and relatives. This way, you can help people make new friends, have some fun, and form fun memories involving both you and fall.

Still, even with proper motivation, throwing a theme party is far from easy. Luckily, you can easily find an idea to borrow or modify with just a bit of research. With that in mind and without further ado, here are several ideas to help you get going.

Pumpkins and Scarecrows

Fall is the season of the harvest. As such, pumpkins, scarecrows, and hay are generally considered to be a great fit for a fall-themed party. Now, carved pumpkins are usually something associated with Halloween, but a regular pumpkin patch simply spells fall.

While you could carve up a pumpkin in whatever way you can pull off, you need to remember that Jack-o’-lanterns are not your only option. There are so many incredible ways for you to decorate a pumpkin even without carving it. This can be quite handy when you want to get the kids in on the decoration. First, you don’t have to distribute carving knives amongst them. Second, you don’t have to worry about having pumpkin guts all over the place.

Again, if you’re throwing a kid’s party or you have a group of friends enamored with J.K. Rowling’s masterpiece, this idea can quickly grow into a full-scaled Quidditch tournament.

Lastly, you can also take a different turn and go to a country life fair instead. This is one of those party themes that work well both indoors and outdoors. Moreover, it’s something that you can probably pull off successfully regardless of your demographic.

Glitter and Gold

While the golden color is always a hit, during fall, it’s just a perfect match. The rest of the fall foliage goes along splendidly, which is why you might want to start organizing with glitter and gold as your core idea. Keep in mind that setting is everything, which is why your first task should be selecting the right private event venue. Once you have what you’re looking for, you need to start looking for perfect decoration opportunities.

Finding professionals to decorate the place is fairly easy. Once you have the right partners, all you have to do is tell them to glam the place up, and the chances are that you’ll get the exact effect that you were looking for. With just a bit of gold spray paint, some gold-colored confetti in balloons, and glitter (lots and lots of glitter), the place will be ready for your guests.

As far as the dress code goes, just make sure that you stress out that you’re aiming for full-glamour. As far as the beverages go, cocktails, vermouth, and champagne are your go-to in this particular setting. Still, this is not a hard rule that you absolutely must follow.

Cider Tasting Party

If there’s one drink that embodies the spirit of fall the most, it would definitely be cider. So, how do you organize a cider-tasting?

First of all, it’s usually a good idea to keep your guest list fairly small. You see, not everyone will appreciate the idea, and not everyone will put the cider-tasting aspect of the party first. The last thing you want is for these few rotten apples (pun intended) to spoil the barrel.

Second, you need to buy quite a variety of ciders, so that the people have a full tasting experience. Keep in mind that decoration-wise, the tasting station should be the centerpiece. It’s a focal point, and you need to spread it so that as many of your guests as possible can stand behind it at one time.

Also, this is a themed event, but it also has a set activity as a core. So, provide guests with tools that will allow them to take notes of all these ciders. Keep the music down so that they can focus on the task at hand.

Lastly, while it may have this type of vibe, this is still not a formal event. It’s a party and, as such, you need to make sure people have fun. So, crack a couple more ciders as you’re done.

Oktoberfest

Let’s say that you find Oktoberfest to be one of the most interesting events hosted. Both 2020 and 2021 Oktoberfest was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, why not host your own, smaller, safer replica of Oktoberfest yourself?

There are two things you need to use as your starting point. First, you need to think of the beer. Even with the event canceled, the chances are that you’ll be able to find a lot of Oktoberfest-style beers in your local grocery or liquor store. Keep in mind that Oktoberfest is a worldwide phenomenon, which is why around the actual date of the event, chances of finding the right brew increase drastically.

Another thing you need to think about is the food. The Bavarian pretzel, sausages (especially Bratwurst), German potato salad, and apple strudel are a must.

In order to further enhance the theme, you should insist on stylized clothing and decorate the place like the real Oktoberfest. It shouldn’t be too hard to find enough examples and ideas online.

Hot Air Balloon Adventure

Going for a hot air balloon theme is quite an interesting concept. It will require a lot of work and be a proper challenge for your organizational skills. One of the ideas that could further inspire you is the hot air balloon festival in Cappadocia, Turkey. Using smaller balloons with hanging baskets to mimic this idea would be great.

One thing worth keeping in mind is that this is one of the best wedding ideas for traveling couples. Sure, it means having a smaller wedding ceremony and giving up some other ideas, but it is really worth it in terms of uniqueness and romantic scenery.

Fortunately, you don’t have to go to Cappadocia in order to hire a hot air balloon. If you’re throwing a party for just a couple of people, hiring a real air balloon is one of the most creative, adventurous, and unique ideas that you could ever come up with. However, why is the early fall the best for this type of adventure? First of all, the weather is still fairly moderate. Second, you get to enjoy the amazing scenery. Third, there is a change in atmosphere, which comes with cool, crisp weather.

In Conclusion

In the end, your organizational abilities, your guest list, and your own mindset matter more than any theme. However, having a theme can make things more fun, more challenging (for your own creativity), and increase the immersion of the attendees. While none of the above-listed ideas is exclusive to fall, they fit thematically, which is why they will simply feel right to your guests, as well. Now, you at least have a starting point or an idea to inspire you.
