5 Reasons for Hair Loss and How You Can Get Help

Hair is one of the first things people notice about us, along with our nails and skin. Aside from affecting our overall self-esteem, the condition of our hair can also give us insight into our overall health. While we all strive to have a strong, healthy mane, many things can get in our way of achieving it. This is especially true in the case of hair loss. While it’s normal to shed up to 100 hairs a day, the problem arises when you start losing significantly more. In this article, we will be looking at five common reasons for hair loss and how you can get help using Selphyl as a PRP therapy.

Stresses due to major life events

We all deal with some sort of stress on a daily basis. But even with effective stress management techniques, some life events can be very difficult to handle. This includes childbirth, divorce, operation, illness, bankruptcy, or death in the family. All of these events can cause major emotional, psychological, and physical strain which, in turn, can lead to excessive shedding. Once the stress has stopped, the body will be able to readjust. As a result, you can expect your hair to start growing back to its natural fullness. Keep in mind, though, that this process can take up to nine months.

Poor hair care and damaging hair procedures

From perming to coloring to relaxing – there’s no denying that certain hair care techniques can make your hair look better and easier to manage. That said, they can be quite damaging to the hair follicles. Even something as simple as wearing tight hairstyles can wreak havoc, resulting in traction alopecia, hair thinning, and bold spots. In such cases, changing up your hair care routine is a must. For optimal results, look into procedures such as platelet-rich plasma or PRP hair treatment at your local hair salon. Treatments such as these help promote hair growth by reinjecting one’s own plasma, thus effectively addressing their hair concerns.

Poor dietary choices

While stress and poor hair care routine are common reasons for hair loss, sometimes the real culprit is poor nutrition. In fact, dietary choices have a tremendous effect on cellular turnover. If there are certain nutrient deficiencies, this will affect the hair growth cycle, leading to thinner hair and bald patches. As a preventative measure, it’d be best to ensure you’re getting all the essential vitamins necessary for hair growth and strength. Consider incorporating more fatty fish into your diet, as well as iron-rich leafy greens. Furthermore, focus on ensuring optimal levels of zinc, protein, vitamin D, and biotin since this can help with hair growth.

Diseases and certain health conditions

From temporary conditions such as telogen effluvium to autoimmune diseases such as alopecia areata, lupus, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, there are a multitude of diseases related to hair loss. Sometimes, hair loss will occur as a result of a hormonal imbalance, which could potentially cause androgenic alopecia. Other times, the reason for hair loss will involve conditions such as a scalp infection, scalp psoriasis, or STIs. Hair loss can also be a result of taking certain medications or birth control pills. It is also a common side effect of chemotherapy treatments. In either case, it’s best to consult with a professional and seek treatment as soon as possible. They can prescribe proper medications in cases where stimulating regrowth is necessary.

Genes and age

Last but not least, hair loss can also be attributed to factors we don’t have control over. One such factor is the genes we’ve inherited. Hereditary hair loss affects both men and women, although they experience different signs (male and female pattern hair loss). These include the overall thinning of the hair in women and receding hairline in men. While regrowth is possible, it’s important that the treatments start as early as the first signs occur. Age is another major factor that could be causing the hair to fall out and become thinner. With time, hair follicles stop making and growing hair due to the natural aging process. Melanin production also slows down, causing the hair to turn gray. When caught in its early stages, it is possible to restore your hair along with your confidence.

Wrapping up

Hair loss affects both genders, and while there are many reasons as to why you may be dealing with it, the good news is, there is usually a way to treat it or prevent it altogether. What’s important is that you determine the cause and seek treatment as soon as possible. The earlier you start with the treatments, the better off you’ll be, securing strong, healthy hair for years to come.

Facing hair thinning? Pump up your hair volume

Hair thinning can happen at any stage, which can easily shake your self-esteem, and you will be left wondering about styling it for looking fabulous. Worry not! Not just you; many are standing on the same platform.

To boost the dose of confidence, we have jotted down some styling tips that will help pump and make your hair voluminous.

What makes our hair thin?

Thinning of hair can happen due to so many reasons such as medications, menopause, stress, hormonal imbalances, or alopecia. Mostly faced by people in their early thirties, here are some signs to look out for;

  • Changes in hair quality
  • Occurrence of patches
  • Lost volume
  • Hair loss, especially in specific areas such as the crown area

Different ways for pumping volume

We jotted down a few solutions for your thin hair to boost its volume. However, results are dependent upon the kind of hair you have, style, and length. Here are few ways that will help in adding that lost volume

  • hairpieces

You can try using hairpieces as add-ons for boosting hair volume. A hairpiece can easily attach with your natural hair, which blends flawlessly and provides more volume to your hair.

These are ideal when thinning is happening near the crown area; they can be applied easily and remain secure at one place for a long duration.

  • Hair extensions

Hair extensions are an efficient way of adding length and much volume, and these are found in a diverse range of colors, styles, and sizes. Hair extensions such as micro-link extensions are better as they blend well with your natural hair without damaging them.

Tape in extensions are found in a diverse range of modern styles and outlooks, such as micro link hair extensions. They may be a temporary solution; however, they work wonders for those who always wanted long hair. However, make sure that you blend your natural hair color with the extensions.

  • Wigs

Whether you are facing hair thinning or balding, wigs effectively add volume; comes with different styles, lengths, and colors, making this a glamourous option to go for. Found in two kinds- synthetic and human hair wigs, each has its advantages which depend upon the style and preference you choose to go for.

These are best in case you are facing thinning of hair from multiple areas. Quick and easy to wear, they give a smart and confident look. Wigs like u-part wigs or short bob wigs need proper attention and maintenance, just like our natural hair.

  • Hair toppers

If you think wigs are not for you, then choosing hair toppers should be the better option for you. Hair toppers, also called hair enhancers, balance and blend well with your hair.

They cover the crown area and can be found in various styles—hair toppers efficiently work along with your natural hair.

However, for a blended look, match the color of the topper with your natural hair

  • Some other options

Apart from these, you can change the partition of your hair, this gives a natural boost to your hair volume. Blow drying is another way of targeting hair thinning, especially the crown area, for pumping volume; it works by pushing your hair upwards.

Another measure is Bendy rollers, which do not require heat, and work on boosting hair volume naturally and they are effective on your wigs and extensions too.

Backcombing is a traditional way that helps in perking up your hair volume. However, use the right kind of brush for it.

Summing up

These tips will make you fabulous and will upgrade your styling game too! These are versatile ways of boosting volume and giving you a desirable look.

Hair product Folexin8 Helpful Tips to Grow Your Hair Faster

At least, at one point in our lives, we’ve all asked ourselves how we can grow our hair faster. Is there a product that actually does that? A treatment, perhaps? Or a change in diet and medications?

Well, you’re not alone. Hair can be a source of pride for many. Some really go to the lengths to take care of them and grow them, but that takes dedication and consistency.

So, if you’re interested in learning more about how you can grow your hair, you’ve come to the right place. We’re providing you with a list of 8 amazing tips that will not only help with the growth of your hair but also improve it as well.

Without further ado, let’s get right into it:

1, Avoid Having a Restrictive Diet

When it comes to growing hair, you won’t be able to control everything that affects it. Nonetheless, there are ways we can avoid causing increased shedding and impaired growth.

According to experts in the dermatology field, a restrictive diet plays a big role in reducing nutrients and resources that are crucial for hair growth. Moreover, the process of hair growth falls relatively low in the priority list compared to our other bodily functions. So, the growth can actually stop if you’re under stress from having a restrictive diet.

This is where a well-balanced diet filled with adequate protein can make a big difference as it’s vital for optimal hair growth. However, keep in mind that going from a restrictive diet to a balanced one won’t immediately reduce hair fall.

2. Caffeine to the Rescue!

Caffeine is a good way to give ourselves a much-needed energy boost, but did you know that it has the power to help with the growth of your hair too?

A study done by researchers has shown that caffeine does not only help to grow new hair at a molecular level but also at the cellular and organic levels in both men and women. You might have already come across shampoos and conditioners infused with caffeine.

These products usually have a blend of ingredients that includes vitamins, premium oils, organic plant materials, and of course, caffeine. So, if you’ve been thinking about changing your shampoo and conditioner, try going for caffeine-induced products. You can also check out a hair product Folexin that’s been known to help as well.

3. Power of Essential Oils

Essential oils have many uses, and one of them is to help promote hair growth.

A study done in a group of men showed great promise. They were given 400 milligrams of pumpkin seed oil in capsule form as a daily dose. This resulted in a significant increase in their hair growth. After just 24 weeks, the men using pumpkin seed oil experienced a whopping 30-40% increase in hair count.

Another study done on 4 groups of mice were given a different hair treatment. It consisted of jojoba oil, 3% peppermint oil, and 3% minoxidil or saline.

The group given the peppermint oil showed the most potential for hair growth. Not only that, but there was also an increase in follicle number, dermal thickness, and follicle depth.

Another essential oil, rosemary, is also immensely helpful in restoring your hair growth.

4. Give Your Hair a Boost

It’s no secret that minerals, vitamins, and fatty acids are vital for our overall well-being. They also play a major role in giving our body the energy it needs for hair growth.

Zinc, iron, vitamin c, vitamin E, omega 3, vitamin D, omega 6, and biotin are essential for the purpose of growing your hair.

Various studies have shown that just taking omega 3 and omega 6 supplements for 5-6 months can help to reduce and prevent hair loss. Another research led to suggest that lower zinc levels were the cause of hair loss.

With regard to biotin, research data is still quite limited. However, more than 17 cases showed significant improvement in both nail and hair health after taking biotin supplements.

So, if you’re thinking about taking vitamin supplements, make sure they include all the necessary ingredients for hair growth.

5. Scalp Massages Are a Must!

A really good scalp massage can not only help you relax and relieve stress but it’s been proven to also give a boost to the health of your hair as well.

Studies done on men showed that a 4-minute scalp massage done every day resulted in them having thicker hair than when they originally started. While it didn’t show any change in hair growth, a scalp massage can help stimulate blood flow underneath your skin. This will lead to your hair being thicker, stronger, and less prone to damage or break off.

Take some time out of your busy schedule to give yourself a scalp massage at home. There are many videos and tips you’ll find on the internet.

6. Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment

Dermatology experts have said that PRP treatments can help patients with their hair loss.

While they show great promise, there’s still room for more controlled studies to be done. However, one study found that PRP can serve as an effective solution against hair loss.

The treatment uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets. This helps restore and speed up hair growth. The protein derived from their own blood and DNA acts as a stem cell once they’re placed back into the body.

The scalp injections help to awaken dormant hair follicles, resulting in more hair growth. So, if nothing else works for you, consult with a doctor and give PRP treatment a try.

7. Avoid Using Excessive Heat

We’re all obsessed with styling our hair, but we don’t fully realize the consequences. From using curling irons, hair dryers to straighteners, the heat alone has the power to damage your hair and cause breakage.

While it’s not completely possible to avoid heat styling, what you can do is minimize it. Simply decreasing the temperature can help to reduce the damage significantly.

Moreover, studies showed that applying a heat protectant before using a styling tool can also help reduce the damage and hair breakage. The heat protectant helps to form a protective barrier that prevents the moisture from being lost.

When looking for heat protectant products, read the labels and see how much heat exposure the product can withstand. They can help to reduce the amount of damage, and your hair will thank you for it.

9. Take it Easy on the Coloring

Almost all of us have had a fascination with coloring our hair. Rightly so as it has the power to change the way we look and feel about ourselves. And they look so wonderful too!

However, the dye and other chemicals change the texture of the hair and put stress on our hair, causing it to break.

We understand you want to experiment with all the colors, but it’s best to tone down your excitement. Just by reducing the number of times you color, you can help your hair grow a little faster and break down less.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, we’d like to say that we hope our tips help you learn more about your hair and what it needs. There’s no magic potion that can instantly grow hair (not yet anyway), but there are several ways you can boost the health of your hair.

Having a balanced diet filled with nutrients, vitamins, and protein is essential. Minimizing the use of straighteners, curling irons, and coloring can really go a long way.

So, take proper care of your hair, and don’t forget to share our tips with your friends and family! Let them know about the ways that can help with their hair growth.

Lucky Heart Cosmetics – The Memphis-Based Brand You Need to Shop

Being from Nashville, TN, featuring and reviewing companies that are based near me helps bring exposure to the smaller cosmetics companies that need business. Ulta, Sephora, and other places are great, but nothing can beat the familiar feel of using products from a company that knows you on a more personal level.

Lucky Heart Cosmetics is a Memphis, Tennessee-based company that has been in business since 1935. Initially started as a cosmetics company for African Americans, the brand has branched out to include all ethnicities. All of their products are made in the United States and are proudly cruelty-free. Lucky Heart Cosmetics is currently veteran-owned and sells hair care and skincare products. The company sent me both the 4-Way Coconut Conditioner and Absolutely Lavender Hand & Body Lotion to review, and I was able to dive into what the brand has to offer.

4-Way Coconut Oil Conditioner

As advertised on the website, this product… “Coconut oil detangles your hair, helping it grow longer and stronger while vitamin E nourishes your scalp so your hair stays healthy. Use as a conditioner or a deep-cleaning mask to reveal soft and manageable hair.” Directions on the packaging instruct to use on damp hair and leave it in as you style it as usual.

The product is like a textured petroleum jelly-like feel that smells strongly of coconut. Let me emphasize: you only need a little bit. Just a pea-sized amount will go a long way. It’s important to remember that you should not apply this near your roots, as it will make your hair greasy. Instead, work the product into the ends of your hair and brush it through before styling.

One out of the two times I used the product, it made my hair very greasy, but that was because it was challenging to find the sweet spot on how much to use. But, if applied correctly, this product has the potential to bring coconutty health back into your hair.

Absolutely Lavender Hand & Body Lotion

Let me be the first to say… I have tried many, many lotions that are said to help sleep. Between Lush’s Sleepy lotion, lotions with rose, lotions with actual melatonin in it, and many more, I can say that I have finally found my holy grail – and it’s only $5.

From someone with wicked insomnia, I know how hard it can be to get a good night’s sleep – even with melatonin or another sleep aid that you may use. And, before I started trying sleepytime lotions, I had come to terms with the fact that I would forever spend my nights waiting for hours to fall asleep, just to wake up 10 times in the middle of the night before my alarm blared in my face the next morning. However, NO LONGER.

I tried this lotion for six days straight to see if I had finally found something that could help my sleep. Even from the first night, this lotion had me falling asleep in as little as eight minutes. You can’t even get through half of a podcast in that amount of time. Every night I was pleasantly surprised to find that I fell asleep quickly and stayed asleep throughout the night.

For my nightly routine, I use the lotion to moisturize my legs and my feet before massaging some lotion into my hands (since I usually sleep with my hands near my face). You can put a little bit under your nose or on your chest if that would be a better option for you and your sleep routine.

The Takeaway

Locally-owned companies will always have a special place in my heart. Maybe it’s because I owned my own business back in the day or maybe it’s because the personal feel you get with the brand is just unmatched. That being said, Lucky Heart Cosmetics has that personalized feel you love with products and prices you’ll love even more. Check them out online to find your new favorite product.
