Sustainable Fall Sweater Weather Inspiration!

The dramatic shift in weather only means one thing, it’s sweater weather time. It is time to start wrapping up. Admittedly if you are anything like the rest of us, you might not have your winter wardrobe ready yet. It is important especially during these times of rising expenses to know exactly what you need to have in your wardrobe. A timeless and practical staple to have in your collection should be the perfect sweater. We do not just mean any old sweater, we are talking about keeping it thick, cozy, and sustainable! Sustainability should not just become a trend but we should all start doing our part to make the world a better place. A great way you can implement sustainability is to start buying your wardrobe in sustainable ways, and there are multiple ways you can step up your first eco-friendly fall.

Buy Great Quality Sweaters For Sweater Weather

If you already have reliable sweater choices that you have had and valued for years, you are already on the right track. Prioritizing quality over quantity is one of the best ways you can try to keep your sweater collection sustainable. If you are yet to make this valuable investment and you are feeling the fall chill, it might be the right time to take the step. Finding a great quality sweater that has evidence of its long-term sustainability might seem impossible, but it just takes a little bit of digging online. If you find sweaters or cropped hoodies you love from a brand you know has a great reputation, check the product reviews or ask people on forums what their experiences have been. This small time investment into finding a genuine sweater will not only save you money in the long term, but it will also save your clothing waste from being dumped on a landfill if a low-investment sweater doesn’t last for the long haul.

Here Are Some Of Our Favourite Places For Sustainable Sweaters Ready For Sweater Weather:

Birdsong

Birdsong, which is a London-based clothing brand, focuses on hand-made, ethical fashion. Their motives behind making the garments are just as beautiful as the pieces themselves, as they not only make sustainable clothing but also prioritize their worker’s rights and operate for the empowerment of staff in the fashion industry that faces abuse. Their sweaters are unique and even available for personalization.

Hope Macaulay

If you are looking for the knitted sweater of your dreams, Hope Macaulay is the place to start looking. With sustainability being their core brand ethos, their knitted and expressive fashion pieces are being showcased in some of the biggest magazine covers to date. Not only do they provide customers with these unique chunky sweaters, but they also are changing the narrative of black Friday with their very own ‘green Friday, promising to donate £15 per each order to an environmentally focused charity. They are not only taking the sustainability movement into their own hands, but they are becoming an example for brands around the world.

Sheep Inc

You can find the most stunning knits from Sheep Inc, and as the name would suggest they have some of the best wool sweaters for the fall season. They are paving the way for sustainable fashion with their carbon-negative knitwear. Their innovative ways of creating soft knitwear are admirable to the whole fashion industry, and they are benefiting the planet as well as our wardrobes.

Navy Grey

Our last and finally not least favorite brand for sustainable sweaters is Navy Grey, a brand that puts comfort and sustainability at the forefront of its brand’s message. Each of their sweaters is 100% organic and biodegradable. Not many brands have gone to the lengths Navy Grey does to cut their waste production, as they additionally ship all their products in plastic-free packaging and deliver them using carbon-neutral methods.

5 Cozy Outfit Ideas to Get You Through The Fall

As summer ends, we are all trying to hold tightly onto the last rays of sun and temperatures high enough to allow us to wear cute, trendy, and chic outfits. However, every year, without exception, fall comes boldly into our lives and simply forces us to forget about swimsuits and high-waisted denim shorts. This means that we have to transition to a slightly warmer wardrobe while also remaining on trend. Moreover, we need to feel comfortable because these rainy days are not meant for stilettos, silky blouses, and form-fitting suits. The question is: how can you achieve being cozy and chic in the fall? Don’t worry –  have a few ideas for you here.

1. Sweater weather, with a twist

Cardigans, jumpers, and sweaters won’t come across as unexpected in chilly fall weather. However, how about matching them with some summer items, such as a colorful maxi dress? This combo is perfect for those chilly days when you need to do errands in town or want to look classy but also be comfortable for a lunch date. Throw a slouchy knitted cardigan over your floaty maxi dress and finish the look off with a pair of modish ankle boots. You can upgrade the style even further and add a Parisian vibe to it with a splash of red lipstick and an eco-friendly tote bag. Voila.

2. Leggings for days, in style

There are a few pieces of clothings that can beat leggings, a clothing item which deserves a special place on our list of cozy fall outfit ideas. One of the ways in which you can wear them is by pairing your leggings with other athleisure pieces or even workwear. For example, when taking your dog for a walk, you can combine a pair of comfy leggings with a trendy cropped windbreaker and white trainers. Another cozy way to wear leggings is by matching them with something more formal, such as a shirt. This is actually a quite common fashion trait among stylish girls who love to match their favorite pair of leggings and a shirt or a polo shirt and a puffer vest. Thus it is no wonder that you can find some amazing womens activewear and easily shop for cute pieces online. You can complete this minimalistic look with a pair of white sneakers.

3. Slip dresses, fall edition

Spaghetti straps and slip dresses may not be the first thing that pops up in your mind when you think of a cozy fall wardrobe. However, these silky pieces can work wonderfully when matched with a simple, warm turtleneck. You can opt for a camel or black tight turtleneck and a slip dress, preferably with an animal or floral print (you still want to be chic and modish). Combine this outfit with a classic trench coat and a pair of kitten heels or block heels and ankle boots. As for your hair and makeup, go for a cute messy bun and a nude lip. This could be the ideal look for a Sunday brunch with the girls or even fashionable work attire (if the company dress code allows it, of course).

4. Sweatsuits, but make it fashion

During the lockdown, sweatsuits have become the most beloved piece of clothing for a majority of us. Cozy and warm, they are ideal for times when the temperatures drop. To keep up with the trends, opt for sweatsuits in bright colors, such as yellow, green, or red. You don’t even have to look for a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants as long as both items are a bit oversized and slouchy.
Match your favorite sweatsuit with unexpected accessories, such as strappy sandals and a statement bracelet. Instead of a backpack or a canvas tote bag, go for something more elegant such as a flap shoulder bag or a polished pencil bag. Furthermore, with this outfit, you can opt for a no-makeup look  or go all out with a bold eyeliner and a matte lipstick. The choice is up to you, but you are bound to achieve a very Instagrammable style, that we saw many fashion bloggers rocking during the NYFW.

5. Ripped, skinny jeans and a blazer

Denim is truly appropriate for any season and skinny jeans are (still) a classic. For this reason, you can go for a pair of dark denim, ripped jeans and make them look a bit more polished with a blazer, preferably an oversized one, to achieve a stylish contrast. The choice of color is up to you, and you can round off this timeless look with a cropped white tee and white Converse sneakers.
To sum up, we can say that fall is an exquisite season for cozy fashion ideas. A gorgeous look can at the same time be super-comfortable and easy to achieve. Try out the ones we have suggested here and truly enjoy your style, even on cloudy rainy days.
