Ten Sustainable Gifts For Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air, and so are pollutants, toxic waste, wartime anxiety and other depressants… so how can we, as a society enjoy our sweet, loving, hallmark holiday the cleanest, purest, way possible? Here are twelve swoon-worthy gift ideas that ease up on the carbon.

Vegan Chocolate

Chocolate lovers unite. There are a few great companies out there offering yummy chocolate that is sustainable. Some favorites to check out.  Chomp Chocolate detail all of their sustainable practices from bean to bar to assure that your bar is made ethically, fair trade and direct from the farmers so they benefit. Their Valentine’s Day chocolate offerings are pretty tasty too. The peanut butter pretzel cup is a must share, the broken heart bark is a great gift for a gal pal with a grifter ex, and their chocolate covered cinnamon hearts may be the ones you keep for yourself.

Recycled Jewelry

Jewelry does not need to be included in the fast fashion craze. Ethically sourced and lab grown diamonds, recycled gold and silver are all attainable and sustainable practices. Linjer does a great job and curates a boutique of elegant and refined pieces at a tenth of the price of name brand jewelry. We love these moonstone earrings to the moon and back and for less than sixty dollars you had me at hello.

Sustainable Plants and Flowers

While many boutiques claim to be sustainable, flowers and plants are curated with the upmost care at Revased. They buy direct from farmers so that your blooms are fresh and sustainable. They also give back and donate flowers to non profits and a woman owned business. Check out their plant and flower subscriptions as well as their one off blooms.

Make Something Vegan

Wicked Kitchen has some great ideas for plant-based lovers. Including, breakfast in bed, baked goods and meal ideas. Check out their peanut butter truffles for a decadent treat that looks way more laborious that it is.

Digitize Your Love

Create a digital card and pop it in their email or text it to them. Adding a bit of your own creative skill can melt their heart.

Take Them To A Core Memory Locale

First date location? Where you first kissed? Taking the time to show your lover you are paying attention goes far in the appreciation department.

Write Them A Love Letter

Pen to Recycled Paper or via email- can you put your heart into words? Everyone loves to hear how much they are appreciated. When was the last time you told your lover how important they were to you? Here are some letters for inspiration.

Finish Some Of Their Chores

Show up at their place and clean the dishes in the sink. Tidying up wherever you think they would appreciate it could really make their day. Just knowing someone cares enough to see when you are tired or run down or just could use a hand is such a great gesture of love. Offer to take their care to the car wash for them or drop off their dry cleaning. When the partnership is solid, these sweet gestures are simply supportive.

Staycation

A romantic overnight stay in a nearby hotel can give you both a chance for a night off doing the dishes and picking up. Avoid the flights footprint and just book locally.

Make Your Lover A Playlist

Spotify and Apple have made it so easy to share your playlists. Why not put together a personalized playlist for your beau?

Conclusion

There are many ways to say I love you. Pick the one that is true to your heart, wallet and with the planet in mind.

Blooming With Love: The Magic of Flower Delivery Services

Valentine’s Day is upon us yet again.

For those whom the heavens have already matched with their twin flames, Valentine’s is an occasion to cuddle together and reminisce about beautiful memories. And to them that are yet to find their soul mates, it’s equally an opportunity to be grateful for life’s unbounded favors.

Either way, Valentine’s is a day to surround yourself with love and adoration. You could express love to your partner by gifting them a romantic getaway or recreate the events during your maiden date. And if you’re not an outdoorsy guy, you could opt for a staycation as you catch up on your favorite series.

But whichever way you choose to celebrate this Valentine’s or your other romantic anniversaries, nothing captures the spirit of the occasion more than sharing flower gifts. This article looks at how flower delivery services can make your romantic celebrations moments relish forever.

Benefits of Flowers

Flowers are the quintessential expression of love and romance. Despite our cultural and social diversities, the language of flowers is understandable by all humans.

But flowers are not only synonymous with romance. They can also provide immense therapeutic benefits

Research indicates that flowers can relieve stress and improve your mood. Smelling certain flowers or simply marveling at a colorful blossom can also improve your memory.

Those struggling with sleep disorders like insomnia may also find flowers incredibly useful. The sleep-aiding benefits of flowers have much to do with their anti-anxiety properties.

What’s more, flowers have been known to spur creativity. Many creatives claim that taking a stroll across a flower garden is sometimes all it takes to beat inspiration blocks.

However, finding the right flower when you need it can often be a daunting task. And that’s where flower delivery services come in.

Flower delivery services play an instrumental role in maintaining the flow of these precious items between senders and recipients. If you’re based in Scarborough and surrounding localities, it’s great to know that the town teems with numerous outlets where you can get your hands on high-quality flowers.

Choosing flower delivery to Scarborough is an excellent way to overcome the challenges commonly experienced while shipping these delicate gifts to your near and dear ones.

How Flower Delivery Services Can Improve Your Romantic Experience

1. They Come with the Element of Surprise

Gifts are known to create the biggest impact on recipients when they’re thoughtfully packaged and unexpectedly delivered. This is particularly true for flower gifts.

One reason for choosing a flower delivery service instead of physically delivering the flowers is that these companies guarantee the element of surprise. The fact that your partner is unfamiliar with the florist will make them more eager to unwrap the gift. And their face will light up as soon as they know who the sender is.

2. They are Convenient

Our fast-paced lifestyles have made it exceedingly challenging to spend quality time with our near and dear ones. There’s a decent chance you’re reading this post while at work on a special occasion when you ought to be with your loved ones.

Flower delivery services let you express your love to your partner without sacrificing your bread and butter. All you need to do is place your order, specify the recipient’s shipping address, and let the florist take it from there.

3. They Bridge the Gap Between Long-distance Lovers

“Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” so the saying goes. But on the other hand, distance can quickly kill relationships. That’s especially true if there are not enough ways to profess your love to your absent partner.

This is another area where a reliable flower delivery service can come in handy. Having a florist on speed dial is a proactive way to ensure you never miss out on those important anniversaries, even if you’re working or studying thousands of miles from your partner. You simply call your florist and have them deliver a customized flower gift that’s sure to wow your significant other.

4. You Get Variety

Flowers come in all shapes and sizes. From roses to daisies, lilacs, tulips, etc., there’s virtually no limit to the type of flower you can dedicate to your spouse. However, it’s unlikely that your wellness garden will have all the world’s most gorgeous flower species. And even if it does, the flowers may not bloom simultaneously.

Flower delivery services take away these hassles by ensuring you have access to different flower varieties whenever you need them. You don’t have to wait for your roses to bloom before gifting them to the sweetest man/woman in your life.

5. Your Flower Arrives in the Best Condition

Florists use advanced preservation solutions to keep their flowers in peak condition for much longer. The flowers are continually fed to enable them to retain water and maintain their pH. They may also be chlorinated to minimize the risks of bacteria and fungi.

All these interventions aim at one bottom line – to ensure the flowers get to the intended recipient looking fresh and clean. You could order a specific flower today and have the same delivered the following day in the exact condition.

Wrap Up

We simply cannot overemphasize the significance of having a florist on speed dial. Just remember to do your homework while choosing a flower delivery service. As you shall find, no two companies are identical.

Guide to Planning the Best Anniversary Dinner for Your Partner

It’s not easy to think of anything truly special to do for your spouse on your anniversary, but if you put in the time and effort, you’ll be able to give them an evening they’ll never forget. Whether you’re celebrating your first or fiftieth, the secret to a good anniversary dinner is to make it unique, thoughtful, and romantic. This piece will assist you in preparing the ideal anniversary dinner by offering helpful tips and original ideas. Everything you need to know to arrange a wonderful and romantic anniversary dinner for your loved one is included in this article, from picking the appropriate location to arranging a special meal, setting the scene with décor, adding a personal touch, and making it a surprise.

Choosing the Perfect Location

When planning an anniversary dinner, the atmosphere of the venue is just as important as the food. A romantic dinner for two at a candlelight restaurant is hard to surpass. A private jet charter or a meal at a restaurant on a rooftop with a view are two options for the more daring. Consider your partner’s tastes and what would enable them to feel most appreciated. Choose a restaurant that offers a special experience, like a chef’s table, for your foodie significant other. Have dinner beneath the stars or plan a picnic in a scenic park if they enjoy spending time in nature. Various choices are available, so take your time and pick a spot that will make your spouse feel extra special.

Create a Special Menu

The menu is an essential part of the anniversary dinner experience, and it’s an opportunity to showcase your partner’s favorite dishes or try something new together. Consider their dietary restrictions and allergies and ask the restaurant or chef to create a special menu just for the two of you. You can also consider making dinner at home. It will be a unique and intimate experience. If you’re cooking at home, consider preparing a special dish that’s meaningful to the two of you, such as the meal you had on your first date or a dish that brings back fond memories.

Set the Mood with Decorations

Decorations can add a special touch to your anniversary dinner and help set the mood for the evening. Consider adding small touches such as flowers, candles, or balloons to make the evening feel more romantic and special. If you’re dining at home, you can create a beautiful table setting with your best silverware and add a few special touches, such as rose petals or fairy lights. If you’re dining out, ask the restaurant to add a few special touches to your table, such as a vase of flowers or a personalized message.

Add a Personal Touch

Adding a personal touch to your anniversary dinner can make it feel even more special and memorable. Consider making a personalized playlist of songs that are meaningful to the two of you or creating a photo album of your time together to share over dinner. You can also surprise your partner with a special gift or a heartfelt letter expressing your love and appreciation. The possibilities are endless, so think about what would make your partner feel special and go above and beyond to make it happen.

Make it a Surprise:

Surprising your partner with your anniversary dinner plans can make the evening even more special. The evening will be more exciting and unforgettable if facts are kept secret until the very end and then revealed. It doesn’t have to be anything big,

Conclusion:

Planning the perfect anniversary dinner for your partner takes a little bit of thought and planning, but with a little bit of effort, you can create an unforgettable evening that they’ll cherish forever. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first or 50th wedding anniversary; what matters is that you show your partner how much they mean to you. By considering your partner’s preferences, creating a special menu, setting the mood with decorations, adding a personal touch, and making it a surprise, you can ensure that your anniversary dinner will be one to remember. Remember to take your time and enjoy the planning process. It’s a special and meaningful experience that you’ll treasure for years to come.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Night Hot Sex Menu: Foods for Maximum Pleasure

Hmmm… how to celebrate Valentine’s Day? I know, you could do it how ancient Romans did! Just follow these steps: 1.) Sacrifice a couple goats, a dog, and then use the blood to do face painting on two naked, laughing priests. 2.) Feast on said sacrifices. 3.) Participate in a lottery to decide who you’ll be hooking up with. Hopefully it’s not that creepy weirdo who lives down the street. 4.) In a fertility ritual, get whipped by said naked priests to ensure that you and the creepy weirdo from down the street have lots of babies.

Not your cup of tea for 2022? Kind of picky aren’t you? Well how about a stuffed red bear then? Chocolates? Flowers? OK, maybe a simpler pleasure. Ah…yes…how about hot, delightful sex? And you can add a hot, delightful meal to bring it together.  Now we’re thinking. Even though it’s always been the most popular gift since the birth of this special day, it never gets old. Probably what Saint Valentine got from his bae.

For hot sex, we want our desire to be high. We want our bodies overflowing with lust to be quenched by that special person in our lives. And we also want to have great blood flow to where we need it most. Everybody knows that males need good blood flow for sex, but most people don’t realize that it’s also critical for female sexual pleasure and arousal. In research, better blood flow was associated with greater sexual satisfaction in women.

The meal you prepare for Valentine’s day can actually help your body to experience great sex. Food affects sex hormones both in the short term and in the long run. In addition, research shows that certain foods improve the elasticity of blood vessels within a couple hours of eating them!  Other foods stiffened these blood vessels in as little as 30 minutes. This means more or less blood flow depending on what we eat for dinner.

Foods to include:

Naturally nitrate-rich foods: After eating nitrate-rich foods, like beets or spinach, nitric oxide levels rise in your body, peaking about two hours after eating. Nitric oxide promotes vascular health and dilates blood vessels, allowing for more blood to flow to our penis or vagina and clitoris. It also enhances stamina by improving the delivery of oxygen to muscles, thereby reducing fatigue. If you’re balking at the idea that spinach could make that much of a difference, consider this: In one study, participants consumed one serving of spinach. Two hours later, salivary nitrate levels rose by 800%, and arteries were measurably more elastic! Be selective about those nitrates though. We’re not talking about salami and deli meat. Leaves, celery, beets, radish, red cabbage and fennel are the best choices for great sex.

Hold the salt and eat potassium-rich foods instead: According to research, about 90% of Americans consume more salt than is considered tolerable for human consumption! This wreaks havoc on our blood vessels and inhibits their ability to deliver blood to our genitals. Research shows that one high-salt meal stiffens arteries within 30 minutes and reduces nitric oxide release. Potassium, on the other hand, has the opposite effect. It softens the delicate vascular lining and increases nitric oxide release shortly after eating it. Potassium can also offset some of the effects of salt on blood vessels.  Unfortunately most of us don’t get enough of it. Research has shown that shortly after eating a high-potassium meal, arteries are measurably more pliable. So, in your Valentine’s sex menu, be sure to include potato, yam, squash, mango, banana, oranges or leafy greens.

Polyphenols: Polyphenols are a class of antioxidant found in foods like cherries, onions, kale, broccoli, celery, citrus, apples and berries. They measurably improve vascular function after eating them, which is why they should be included in a sex menu.

Choose Omega 3 fats: According to research, testosterone will fall sharply after a very fatty meal. This has the potential to break the mood, since adequate testosterone is necessary for strong libido in males and females. A high-fat meal will also increase arterial stiffness within 2 hours. Arterial stiffness reduces blood flow and is not what we want for great sex.  On the other hand, omega 3 fatty acids, like those found in fish, though high in fat, improved the elasticity of blood vessels in the two-hour period after eating it. Good menu choices are wild salmon, or walnuts for those following a plant-based or vegan diet.

Culinary aphrodisiacs: Some aphrodisiacs have actually been studied clinically for their effect on sexual performance and libido. Saffron, for example, has a decent amount of research to support its efficacy, and makes for an exotic addition to dinner. In fact, Cleopatra often soaked in a saffron-infused bath to prepare for her lovers. Cloves are also a great choice for a hot-sex menu because they get to work very quickly. In fact, one study found that they improved desire and performance within an hour of eating them.

Put it all together to create a meal fit for St. Valentine

Put all this information together to make a hot sex-meal. For inspiration, here’s a sample Valentine’s Day menu:

Warm up:

Sex Juice: Get out your juicer (or use a blender and strain) and add:

-A bunch of fresh beets

-A small piece of ginger

-A hot pepper of your choice (if you don’t like spicy, you can use an apple)

Main Course:

Spinach Salad with red onions, broccoli and vinaigrette

Baked acorn squash spiced with aphrodisiac cloves, nutmeg and saffron

Wild salmon with fresh herbs. For vegans, top squash with walnuts for omega 3’s instead of eating fish.

Dessert:

Raspberry and clementine parfait

So, for the perfect Valentine’s Day, no need to think like the Romans.  Instead, think hot sex, which is always a gift worth giving. Luxuriate your body and your blood vessels to awaken all that is possible from your innate sexual physiology.

How to Get Through Valentine’s Day if You’re Super Single

Oh goodness, it’s in the air already—lovey-dovey couples on sappy ads holding hands and exchanging sweet nothings. Cardboard hearts plastered on each and every coffee shop window. Annoying greeting cards with terrible puns. Terrible romcom marathons. Special discounts on flower arrangements and candy boxes. Pink everything.

Yes, yes, Valentine’s Day is rearing its ugly head once more. Why do the happily involved need a whole special day dedicated to them? Don’t they have enough love and happiness?

If you can’t tell by now, I’m not a big fan of the pink holiday. I know how much the insistence on finding your one true love used to irritate me and plunge me into a hole of self-doubt and anxiety while I was single.

I’m exaggerating a bit, I know. Being bitter and resentful never did anyone any favors. There are much healthier ways of coping and making it through the first half of February if you’re super single and depressed.

Here’s a list of helpful tips on how to change your mindset and make Valentine’s Day a fun and lighthearted affair. Instead of sulking under a quilt of self-deprecating hatred.

Simply ignore Valentine’s Day

The list of annoyances in the first paragraph of this article makes this difficult. But it’s totally doable.

Ignore the social media feeds that are incessantly rambling on about finding love. Turn a blind eye to the ads, don’t listen to Valentine’s Day playlists, and stay away from any and all Hugh Grant movies. The snooze button on social media is your best friend.

Now, I know that you’d have no reason to read this article if it were that easy. But I just want to remind you that it is. A bit of conscious effort can go a long way in reducing your Valentine’s Day anxiety. If it doesn’t work, I’ll give you a few more suggestions.

Be your own Valentine

Now, this is the real deal. Instead of wishing you had a special someone to send you a bouquet of roses, send your own self some flowers and a box of chocolates!

Sleep in and go out for a late breakfast in your favorite restaurant. Get a massage and a spa date, treat yourself to a nice dinner paired with some good wine. Do what you need to do to make you feel better in your own skin. After all, self-love is the prerequisite to all other kinds of love.

Just make sure you make concrete plans a couple of days ahead. That way, you’ll make sure you actually go through with it instead of just wallowing in your bed the entire day.

If you find out you are your own secret admirer, the lack of an external one will be much easier to cope with.

Get out of the city

Plan a field trip on the 14th of February. Get an Airbnb in a scenic village. Spend the entire day wandering around and soaking it in. Beautiful sights and sounds will take your mind off the constant ads proclaiming you a loser for not having a partner at the moment.

Being lost in an unfamiliar town can really help you get in a different head space. Valentine’s day will be the last thing on your mind.

Phone a friend!

There’s a real easy way to not feel lonely on Valentine’s Day – call your other lonely friends and have a lonesome-fest together! You can all gather in one place, drink wine, eat good food, laugh, and be lonely. Being all alone in this world has never felt this good.

On a serious note, surrounding yourself with people whose company you enjoy can help you get through much worse situations than some made up holiday. If you’re ever feeling down and depressed, reach out. To a friend you care for, to a family member you trust, to a therapist you have confidence in. Make a conscious effort to not bury everything in.

Make someone else’s day!

You’ve got a friend who’s in the same predicament as you? Be their secret admirer/stalker!

Surprise your friend with a big bouquet of flowers and a nice box of chocolates with a cheesy in-joke written on a card. I guarantee it’ll make both of you happier.

You can spend the day taking each other out on dates and doing things you both enjoy. Maybe you go to your favorite club and splurge, get VIP bottle service, and make the time go by even faster. Perhaps you just have a quiet night in. Either way, not being all by yourself is key to keeping a positive mindset during Valentine’s Day.

Treat it as any other day

Do your daily routine exactly as if it’s any other day. Because, in essence, it is like any other day.

Wake up, do your exercise, have a nice spot for breakfast. Maybe you take yourself out to a nicer lunch than usual, just to keep the sad feelings at bay.

If anyone tries to say hi with a Valentine’s Day greeting, look them straight in the eye and walk away. OK, maybe don’t be rude. But ignore the holiday greeting and carry on as usual.

If you’ve got it in your head that this day bears no real significance, the chances of getting down in the dumps are minimal.

Play Cupid

OK, so you’re down on your luck, romantically speaking. That doesn’t mean you can’t make someone else happy!

Everyone has a couple of friends in their group that everyone knows should hook up, but the guy has the grace of a donkey, and the girl sends signals comprehensible only to those with ESP.

Well, Valentine’s Day is a great way for YOU to get involved. Send them both the same gift, with the same cryptic message inscribed. They will invariably talk about it and discover that they both have the same stalker!

I don’t know, I’ve never actually tried something like this. I like to stay out of other people’s business. But if you’re the type of person who makes other people’s affairs your own, Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to help yourself by helping others.

In Conclusion – Take it easy

The key takeaways are these – it’s a day just like any other; you don’t have to buy into the corporate pressure; if you’re having a particularly hard time, take the day off and pamper yourself.

I didn’t end up talking about this, but Valentine’s Day still is the best day to ‘ironically’ let your crush know you like them. If they’re the type of person to enjoy a tall glass of cringe with their morning coffee, a skilfully crafted DM on Valentine’s Day could very well be the way into their heart.

Either way, do your best to ignore it and take care of yourself. Hugh Grant will once again fade back into obscurity, and pink balloons will float away into the distance, not to be seen for another year.
