4 Benefits of Using a Yoga Mat Cleaning Spray

.As a yoga enthusiast, you are probably rather attached to your mat. And you want to make sure that it’s perfectly taken care of. After all, you most likely use it a few times a week, if not every day. Which means that by taking care of it, you will also make sure that you are taking care of yourself. How so? Well, you probably want to exercise on a fresh and hygienic surface, don’t you? Click this if you need some tips on how to keep your mat spotless.

Let us all be completely honest here and face the facts. While practicing yoga can be extremely fun, the mere thought of having to scrub and rub your mat afterwards can definitely make the excitement die down a little bit. It’s not that you don’t care about keeping things clean and it’s not even that you hate cleaning in general. It’s simply that your yoga mat can really cause you some troubles when it comes to keeping it spotless.

Do you know why that is, though? The answer is pretty simple. It’s because you don’t actually have the right tools and scrubbing with soap and water can be a difficult, and yet an ineffective, task. So, how about you get yourself the right tools and say goodbye to those nightmares and negative thoughts that you might get every time the thought of cleaning the surface you are exercising on crosses your mind?

You are now probably wondering which tools I am talking about, so let me cut to the chase right away. There are now yoga mat cleaning sprays that you can buy and replace the scrubbing process with a gentle wiping one that will be extremely effective. If you aren’t sure that this is the right thing for you, I suggest you keep on reading to find out about the actual benefits of using this spray.

Completely Clean & Sanitized

If there is one thing that you can expect to get from Be Moxe or a different high-quality yoga mat spray, then it’s cleanliness and sanitation. There is absolutely no way you can “miss a spot” with this particular product. And there’s no reason for you to wonder whether you have scrubbed everything thoroughly out and whether your mat is completely sanitized. With this specific product, it will be so clean and sanitized that you will be able to eat off of it. But, seriously, don’t do that – it just doesn’t sound appealing.

Quick & Easy Cleaning Process

As I have already mentioned above, the whole process of getting your mat spotless can be pretty difficult when you have nothing but water and soap, or a detergent, on your hands. You can find yourself scrubbing into the sunset and I’m sure that you’d rather be doing something else. Lucky for you, things are about to change for the better.

With a spray, you can get this whole process done in a matter of minutes. Yes, you have heard me right. And, if you don’t believe me, all you have to do is turn on a stopwatch once you start cleaning with this particular product and then turn it off once you stop. I’m sure the results will be a huge refreshment after all those days of relentless scrubbing. This will make you stop frowning when it’s time to do yoga, because you’re actually frowning upon what comes afterwards.

Smells Nice

While this might not be the most important benefit, it’s definitely worth mentioning. The sprays designed for your yoga mat are usually made so that they have a beautiful, relaxing aroma. Essential oils are to thank for that. Yoga is all about relaxing. And these scents will definitely contribute to those efforts, even though they are used for cleaning.

If you still want to take the traditional route, here are some tips to help you out: https://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/a28244345/how-to-clean-yoga-mat/

Long-Lasting Mat

There is one more thing that you need to know about these products. Since cleaning with them won’t be a nightmare and since they are so gentle on any surface, you can rest assured that your yoga mat will last for quite a long time after you start treating it with this spray. That is a pretty big plus, don’t you think?

How to Clear Your Head This Summer (And Why You Should)

Summer Time Gladness

Any time is a good time to take a step back, zoom out, and look at your life from a different angle. As we get caught up in routine, we tend to forget to find a moment to relax and take in the things that happen to us, which is how sometimes we end up feeling overwhelmed. With the holidays coming up and the summer already here, it seems like the perfect time to empty our heads to let new things in as we make the best of the sunshine season that brings happier days into our lives.

Mindful Goodness

Over the years, the psychological process of mindfulness has become trendie rand many people have been able to gain awareness about their thought patterns by meditating, thus improving the quality of their lives as they learn more about themselves. This practice is just one of the many things that we can include in our routines in an attempt to empty our minds and leave our worries behind.

Find Mental Fitness

As a matter of fact, it has been proven that there are many ways in which we can accomplish this, including doing exercise, which releases “feel good chemicals”, as well as learning new things like a challenging mental sport and other brain stimulating activities that help us step away from elements that cause us anxiety, such as recurring thoughts that are not beneficial to us.

Yoga

Yoga is one of the best physical activities that we can take part in order to not only feel healthier but also more emotionally balanced. Although it is hard to establish the exact moment in which this widespread practice was developed, it can be said that its pre-origins are almost 5,000 years old, and some believe that it is connected to the Indus-Sarasvati civilization. This fantastic “body of knowledge” — as it embraces physical, spiritual, and mental dimensions — stands for “union” in the sense that it connects these three aspects, helping us to reach internal harmony. As a result, yoga is a fantastic tool to help you relax and what’s more, you can practice it wherever you are: all you need is a mat.

Journal

Although writing is not for everyone, it is one of the best things you can do in order to release ideas, and in the process emptying your mind, create space for new thoughts and experiences. It is, in fact, used in many dynamic therapies because it allows patients to translate feelings and events into words so that they can then look at things in a different way. If you’re going away this summer, bring a journal with you and find a moment to write down your thoughts. It might not help you to shape things the that are on your mind, but it will at least allow you to keep track of some of the valuable perceptions you might have, which you wouldn’t be able to recall otherwise.

Add Potent Foods To Your Diet

The things you eat can also make you feel better, and there is some especially good “food for thought” that can boost your internal equilibrium. The benefits of dark chocolate have been highlighted for decades mainly because it helps lower stress. Dark Chocolate contains phenyl ethylamine, which induces your brain to release endorphins, instantly making you feel better. Seafood is also great to help you reduce stress — and the summer is just the right time to have all the sea food you want — as it’s packed with Omega-3, selenium, and zinc; all elements that are fantastic for your health and might even help prevent depression.

Become A Sun Goddess and Get Your D

As our Vitamin D levels rise thanks to spending more time in relaxing and healthy environments, summertime is the right time to clear our minds. Busy routines keep us from properly assimilating new and old experiences, which, in turn, translate into stress and anxiety. Find the time to think about yourself and to unwind; both you and those around you will certainly appreciate it because, as someone once said, each moment is all we need and not more. For fair skinned beauties, find extra vitamin D in mushrooms, supplements, sesame seeds yogurts and more. Stay sun kissed but safe.

5 Yoga Postures For Athletes

In 2016 I reluctantly stepped on a mat at local Kansas City yoga studio. I knew this would be my last attempt at a modality that most were shocked to find I hated. (Not disliked…no, hated ).

As a collegiate athlete and believer in all things holistic, I couldn’t understand why I felt no connection with yoga. For years I tried to engrain this practice into my life, but every time I stepped on the mat, all I felt was anger. My athlete brain kept saying “I don’t get it… let’s just workout!”.

The following year, I found myself on the mat at that studio over 300 times.

As I grew to love this practice, I would come to realize that my reason for disliking yoga in the past boiled down to one thing:  it forced me to slow down in every way possible. Each movement was meticulous in nature, guided by either an inhale or an exhale, and was often held for more time than I had patience for. The stillness of savasana at the end of the practice was enough to drive my active mind crazy. And the entire practice of yoga contradicted every notion engrained in me as an athlete-but itlikely would have saved my career.

The art of recovering the body after intense training is no longer taboo, and I would give anything to turn back time and give “Mariah the athlete”  the yogic tools of recovery and rest that I have now. By incorporating just a few yoga postures daily, I would have prevented injury, sped up muscle recovery, and taken a few moments of silence in my mind.

With years under my belt of being both a yoga student and teacher, I can honestly say the tools I have received from this practice have changed my life. Now, I bring what I have learned to the world of athletics-a world that will always have a special place in my heart.

Yoga Retreats: Why A Yoga Retreat Is So Much More Than Just Yoga

Why go on a yoga retreat?

If you are anything like me, you have either been or plan on going on a yoga retreat at some point. Perhaps it is a friend coaxing you to go on a retreat as a wing woman for her post breakup solution.  Or maybe you recently experienced a life changing event and feel like a mindful vacation will help you get centered for the next phase of life. Whatever you reasons are for going on your first or tenth retreat, the experience of a yoga retreat is so much more than learning to do a warrior pose, or perfecting your downward facing dog.

So, if it’s not just for the yoga, then why? Why do so many men and women choose a yoga retreat as their vacation of choice? Here are some of the benefits, in addition to doing a lot of yoga, that a yoga retreat can offer. Including days of wearing yoga pants!

Yoga Retreat: The Details

Who goes and Where?

A yoga retreat is a great excuse to take a vacation, either alone or with a friend or partner. The word “retreat” has meaning, as most yoga retreats take place in a serene, quiet destination setting. (Think Costa Rica, or one of the Greek Islands). Because it is meant to be a mindful experience, the location is strongly taken into consideration. So the more remote, the better.

Do I have to be good at yoga?

Unless the retreat suggests advanced practitioners only, all yoga retreats are fair game for beginning to advanced levels. Remember, a yoga retreat is meant to be a safe place. A place where you can accept who you are, move your body and be mindful of the connection between your mind and body.

How long do yoga retreats last?

A yoga retreat can be over a three day weekend or can last seven to ten days on average.

What do you pack and bring?

What you take with you really depends on the destination of the yoga retreat. For example, if the retreat takes place on a seaside setting, bathing suits and snorkel gear maybe suggested. Remember, you won’t be doing yoga twenty four seven on a yoga retreat. Usually, there are two times of daily practice so that means a lot of free time. So plan on bringing seasonal attire, a good book, a journal, a yoga mat and cleaner, and laptop (if you must).

Do both men and women go?

I have been on numerous yoga retreats and the majority of the attendees have been women. That said, there are plenty of woke men that attend who generally care about their wellbeing, both mental and spiritual. For them, having matcha tea with a bunch of women is more appealing at this point in their lives than doing shots with their boys in Cabo. Cheers to woke men! Often times, couples will go on retreats together. That way, they have each other to spend time with during that downtime I mentioned. So romantic!

What are the accommodations usually like?

While new age talk is all yurts and pup tents, being one with nature does not actually mean you have to sleep without some of your domestic usuals. Because most yoga teachers who attend these retreats desire the same creature comforts. And perhaps they have already had a retreat at that location and liked the hotel vibe or have received positive feedback from other yoga instructors about a hotel or unique set up. Moreover, the last thing anyone wants during a mindful retreat is discomfort. That said, if its a five star hotel set up, you could be missing the point. Completely! So think somewhere in between yurt and five star accommodation.

How much does a yoga retreat usually cost?

A short weekend trip will usually cost about $500-1000.00 Which usually includes daily meals and accommodations. And a longer trip from seven to ten days can run about two to three thousand which includes meals and accommodations.

For meals, a healthy cook is usually hired to prepare delicious meals. Unless there is a restaurant at the hotel or space you are staying. Be sure to bring extra money for outings in case you want snacks and extras.

What do you do besides yoga on a yoga retreat?

And this is where it gets interesting. Since these locales are usually exotic and serene, nature beckons activities in between daily yoga practice times. Whether you choose to surf, paddle board,  snorkel or hike up a beautiful mountain, the majestic scenery will heighten your senses. Often times, meditation is incorporated within the daily practice. And with all the beauty that nature will offer on your retreat, you are bound to go deeper within your meditative practice.

The yoga organizer will schedule activities

Activities such as visiting an essential oil distillery or going to a culture heavy restaurant. Or maybe scheduling wine tasting at a local winery, or visiting a favorite local shop. Whether you explore the shops and restaurants or find the most touristy thing to do, the retreat in many ways, reminds us to be mindful that we are just visiting.

Sometimes, there are activities right on site of the yoga location. During a recent retreat to Nova Scotia we tie dyed items we brought with us or bought during our stay.

How do I find my perfect yoga retreat?

Going on a yoga retreat is a mindful getaway. It is a time to recenter yourself and to meet like minded people. It is a vacation that prepares you for when you get back to reality. Not by reminding you what you have to do when you get back, but that your reality depends on your perspective more than your circumstances.

You can find your next yoga retreat by checking in with your local yoga studio and community. Or check out these suggestions and book your yoga retreat for 2020.

We Love Yoga

We love yoga! It promotes flexibility, good health, and physical fitness in addition to allowing us to get it touch with our spirituality and providing a sense of fulfilling our potential.

We connected recently with Kyle Miller from Kyle Miller Yoga and asked her about the passion for Yoga, and here’s what we found out:

Yoga is my life.  It’s my career, my ethical compass, and my holistic wellness practice; it informs what I think matters and how I live my life on a daily basis.  I’ve been studying it for a long time!!  And I really love the ways it has allowed me to transform myself and how I see the world.

I made some videos recently to share the magic!  I made these videos so that my students could practice even when they can’t make it to class and to spread the teachings I believe in so much to a wider audience.  These classes are for everyone.  They are inclusive and they feel good while you’re practicing. The simple act of participating in your own well being is powerful!   These videos give you an easy to use format to create a well being practice at home.  One you can maintain on the road, as well.

My hope is that you emerge from each class feeling like you had an experience and like you have recalibrated your mind, body and spirit.  These techniques have allowed me to spark joy within my own system.  I hope they allow you to find it within yourself as well.

Kyle is trained in Jivamukti and most recently has gotten totally enraptured by Katonah Yoga. She blends classical vinyasa with spherical movements, pranayama and theory pulled from the yogic texts as well as Chinese medicine, pop culture and world religion. She has been teaching for over 10 years, since 2007.
Her next retreat is Sicily (sold out) and then Santa Fe!!! http://www.loveyogaspace.com/santa-fe

‘Rage Yoga Class’ Uses Beer And Profanity To Help Reduce Stress

Everyone has different ways of coping with stress. Some people like to go to the gym and let their rage out through a good workout. Others light candles, take a bath, and listen to some music. Some like to curse up a storm and scream. Others like to drink until they forgot why they were stressed in the first place. Everyone’s different—so, that’s why we need to cater to everyone’s needs at once, not just some.

For many, yoga has been a way to reduce stress and promote relaxation. For others, having to breathe, inhale, smell lavender, and keep silent can be even more stress-inducing than calming. So, instead of having a regular ol’ “namaste” yoga class, there’s a brand new kind of yoga class on the market catered to those who need to scream it out.

Rage Yoga, according to CBS News, originated in Texas by yoga instructor Ashley Duzich.

Duzich understands that yoga is about relaxation and union—which, can mean different things for different people.

“We are all angry about something and we all have been holding onto an ‘F’-bomb for a little bit too long,” she says. “So that’s what this does – is – it allows you to have a safe space to let go of your and frustration and rage in a healthy way… and then also wash it all away with some ice cold beer.”

She added:

We actually take beer breaks during the class. It’s definitely not for everybody and that’s totally OK… I also don’t recommend bringing your children.

Sign me up!

Guys Doing Naked Yoga Is Now A Thing And I’ve Never Felt More Blessed

Anyone who does yoga knows that it’s an artform that is all about positive vibes and self-expression. People who do yoga are supposed to be incredibly comfortable with themselves and their bodies as they manipulate them into stretches, poses and other positions. Yoga is supposed to make people feel powerful and “free.” And, what better way to make yourself feel completely free and in touch with yourself and all things positive than by being completely a** naked while doing yoga?

Apparently, online, it’s become a new norm for some men to do yoga completely naked. I mean – they’re outside, in nature, completely f*cking naked. I feel as though God has blessed me on this fine Friday afternoon.

This Mom Farted During Yoga And The Story Will Make You Laugh Your Ass Off

Everyone who has ever tried yoga knows that when you go to a class for the first time – it can be nerve-wracking. Take it from me – a beginner and newbie to yoga – who basically had an anxiety attack when the instructor kept telling me I was doing everything wrong (isn’t yoga supposed to be relaxing?)

Laura Mazza knows exactly how I feel. Mazza, the blogger behind Mum on the Run and mother of two decided to try a yoga class for the first time since having children and – she opened up about the experience, which, ended up being way worse than my experience and – also hysterical.

Mazza explained that after having kids, she suffered from “muscle separation,”

I have muscle separation. Having kids separated my abominal wall like Moses parting the Red Sea. Yeah it’s not good and my stomach kinda points out like a cone. So you know, I am trying to get fitter and fix it so it was suggested by a physio to try yoga.

Ha…hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah. Okay so.

Here’s where we knew we were in for a good one.

I put on a pair of yoga pants, because for someone who has never done yoga, really, I seem to own a lot of yoga pants. I got the pair that looked less “Ball-y” from sleeping in and yanked them up nice and high and got a clean top. I was wearing my regular nanna jocks. No time for g strings here.

We got into the class and it was dark and there’s candles everywhere. (Just a slight fire risk you guys), I’m thinking, holy shit this is real yoga, not like 5, 6, 7, 8 and stretccchh… this is ‘im going to go to a high place of enlightenment’ right here.

Everyone’s talking to each other and the trainer, yoga master, limber yoda, whatever… is talking to everyone and like talking to them, she’s saying “how’s Daryl and his leg…?” And I’m there hiding in the corner thinking “please for the love of god do not notice me”
Everyone’s taking off their socks and I’m thinking oh lord, my toes are hairy and I didn’t shave them, I only dry shaved my ankles in case my pants ride up.

Relatable AF.

So I’m looking out at all these slender women with their nice tight yoga pants, and mine with the 80’s flare at the bottom. They all take off their socks to reveal manicured toes and here I am with my froddo feet, trying to hide in the corner so I don’t have to talk about my personal life.

Then ashram yoga guru says loudly “oh we have a new member tonight. We are blessed with the company of….??”

And then I replied with… “oh yes. And I am blessed with your company” I don’t know why I said that, probably because I’m a social idiot.

And she said “oh sorry I was after your name.”

“Ah laura”

“Okay” she asked me a few more questions where I fumbled my way through and then I started talking about my muscle separation and her eyes glazed over and I trailed off.

“Welcome” she smiled while her skinny body moved down like a slinky.

Yeah – same.

We started doing these random positions, moving into the upward facing dog and I feel a nice crack in my back, thinking i can do this…I totally love yoga. I am a yoga girl!! Look at me so fit right now.

We move into the downward facing dog… and that’s when I started to feel my guts.

Now for the past few weeks I have had IBS Symptoms like something crazy. My farts stink like something mixed between a rotten egg and an incineration plant.

And somewhere between the dolphin position and the three legged dog two of those burning garbage eggs slip out and I fart.
I farted. I farted at yoga. I’m a walking cliche. My pelvic floor has failed me.

They’re quiet, so I’m thinking holy fuck, thank god for that. But then we move to some position where my heads between my legs, and the smell hits me like a punch to the nose. I died inside and now I officially smell like something has also died inside.

I’m thinking, do I leave? Do I leave the country? Is this happening?? IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME? Not only do I look like a slob but now I stink too.

Pause while I wipe the tears off of my keyboard.

Okay. I gather my resolve and say you know what? Whatever. Everyone farts and I can’t help it. I continue attempting thede ridiculous positions and suck in my core. Fitness here we come.

We then go down on this position where we stretch right out but our legs are like a frog on the floor. The teacher then came around and pushed everyone down lower… I thought oh good, gonna get a nice crack in my back again. I hold in my butthole nice and tight to make sure no farts escape again.

She comes over… pushes my back down…

And buuuuuuuuuurrppppfffffff

The loudest trumpet comes out of my ass.

I froze and thought oh my god. Oh my god.

OH MY GOD. Sweet baby Jesus. What just happened. I’m dreaming. Surely. I’m in a nightmare.

My face flushes red and I have tears in my eyes from the embarrassment.

I got up, attempted to roll up my yoga mat but couldn’t do it, so I just kinda chucked it to the side.. and grabbed my shoes and socks and my bag all in my arms and basically bolted out the door.

I turn around just as I’m closing the door And look up embarrassed to see everyone on their knees wide eyed staring at me in shock… (or in an awake coma from the smell)

And guru ashram yoga teacher looks at me, bows her head and joins her hands together and says “namaste”

And I think nah I’m a go, and I run out the door and now I’m sitting at McDonald’s eating a sundae crying and laughing.

Sorry physio. I’m never ever ever EVER, doing yoga again. Fuck the muscle separation.

Oh. My. God.

While the entire situation is traumatizing and embarrassing – I have to applaud Mazza for being so f*cking hilarious in the retelling and for hitting up McDonald’s instead (yes girl, yes). My heart goes out to you, fellow traumatized-yoga victim, but also, thank you for making my day.

Women Need To Stop Wearing Workout Leggings To All Places That Aren’t The Gym

Leggings everywhere?  No. In a world where women have been held down by the strong, long arm of men—we’ll do just about anything to succeed. Fighting tooth and nail, clawing our way to the top, it takes a lot more for a woman to reach success than it does a man. In all honesty, I’m proud to be a woman—damn proud. But, in order to reach my peak, I have had to fight for my right. And, a lot of this had to do with the way in which I hold and present myself in the public eye.

So often, I see women going out in public—to dinner, shopping, even on job interviews—wearing workout attire. Things such as leggings, shorts, big t-shirts, and hoodies—they make you look sloppy and unpresentable. Sure, comfort is key and many women wish to be more comfortable than walking through the world in heels. And, sure, many women believe that heels were invented by men to make women hard to chase—but, in all reality, some of the things women want to do away with due to “feminism” like skirts, dresses, and heels, actually makes you look professional and confident.

Think about this: if you were to walk into a job interview wearing leggings and Nikes, would you get hired? If you’re looking to work at a gym or fitness company—sure. But, as someone working in the corporate world, you need to dress for success.

But, this shouldn’t stop as soon as you leave your office.

Putting time and effort into the way you look gives you a sense of confidence that can become contagious. The way you feel about yourself can, many times, be read by others meeting you for the first time, or even those you surround yourself with every day. Why would you want to walk the world feeling sluggish and sloppy, when you can walk around feeling successful and thriving?

While social media and trends may dictate your life, you may fall into the traps of looking a certain way to “fit in.” But, fitting in may not always be what’s best for you. Instead of doing what everyone else is doing, and wearing what everyone else is wearing, make your own path. Don’t just reserve your “nice” clothes for important occasions and events—wear them regularly.

Try it out—even for a week, and watch how much your world will change.
