Earlier this month, I made my way to the Las Vegas Convention Center to celebrate the new and next in tech gadgets, gizmos, and wearables. Everything that technology fuels, from ad tech to zentech, was showcased, allowing consumers to test drive the electronic tools of tomorrow. In addition to checking out a stunning environmental film at The Sphere and a fantastic dining experience at the newly opened Komodo in the Las Vegas Fountainbleu (check out the Daring Plant-Based Kung Pao Chicken), I spent the better part of my time in the home, fitness, wearable floors at the Venetian. What I discovered there was that the future of tech is zen.
ZenTech
Anyone who has experienced a remote workplace over the last few years, especially through COVID, knows what tech burnout feels like. There are programs to stop you from doom-scrolling and spending countless hours on Instagram and TikTok. Even if you do not work in an industry that requires you to be online on the regular, it is an easy addiction to online consumption, which stresses us out to the max.
Enter Zentech. Now that we are encumbered by our devices, technology is being designed to help calm, soothe, distract, and zone out from, well, technology.
In the age of streaming, clicking, and scrolling, where is the respite? Here are a few highlights I discovered in consumer electronics at CES that qualify as Zentech.
Semsei
Semsei is the intersection where technology and nature meet. SUMSEI, the premium lifestyle brand led by CEO Chang-Hyeok Lee, created a mock version of their terrarium in South Korea where you walk through a maze of nature barefoot, tapping into all five senses. Their body air dryer was conveniently located outside of the maze to dry you off in a negative ion, eco-friendly sort of way.
Stillness Infinity Bath By Kohler
Sit in stillness in an infinity bath that creates an at-home spa experience. The 46″ x 46″ freestanding bath brings together water, light, fog, and aromas to create an immersive journey of the senses designed to relax the mind, soothe the body, and renew the spirit. Every element is customizable through the KOHLER® Konnect™ app for intuitive control.
AX Visio Smart Binoculars By Swarovski Optik
Bird watching just got more interesting with this Zen technology. The AX Visio 10×32 are AI-supported binoculars that combine outstanding SWAROVISION quality with digital intelligence. The identification function helps you to identify birds and other animal species at the touch of a button. Thanks to the revolutionary “share discoveries” function, you can immediately show your companion where you have seen an animal. Easily create photos or videos and share them with your community.
My First Tech For Kids
Hand-me-down technology needs to be ergonomically fixed for the kids when it comes to wearables. Enter Singapore-based, My First Tech. Providing smaller tech and wearables for kids that function better with comfort in mind. We envision being a part of every child’s first electronic adventure. myFirst is not just a brand; it’s a promise to provide devices that cater specifically to the needs of young minds, fostering a sense of wonder, connectivity, and security. Earbuds fit their ears, smartwatches that are lighter in weight, and technology that teaches and inspires in the form of cameras, digital frames, and more.
Conclusion
Technology and innovation are here to stay. And for the consumer, unable to place the genie back in the bottle, the new frontier is looking at living with the technology that had once promised us convenience. Consumers no longer want to be beholden to their devices. Zentech offers the masses a pebble-stoned pathway of hope in finding some lifestyle balance with their tech tools.
