Kesha A Warrior In Women’s History

We all know Kesha as a pop icon, who rose to fame in the early 2000’s.. We saw that she had a bit of a wild side to her, as seen and heard about in her albums Animal and Cannibal where she released songs such as “Blah Blah Blah”, “Hungover” and “Party at a Rich Dudes House”.

Yes, these songs are crazy but Kesha was also only 23 when these songs came out. She was still so young.

A young pop star who was living the Hollywood dream. Sure, everything she was singing about is every parent’s worst nightmare but this doesn’t make her a bad role model.

In fact, she is someone all-girls SHOULD look up to.

In 2014 Kesha did something that if ended not in her favor could have absolutely ruined her career. Kesha had filed a lawsuit against her former producer Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke) for sexual and physical abuse. She stated this has been an ongoing occurrence throughout their professional career together starting when she was only 18, back in 2005!

Kesha claimed that he FORCED HER TO DRUGS and even spoke out about an instance when she was unknowingly given the date rape drug and woke up naked and sore in Dr. Luke’s bed with no recollection of what happened.

In February of 2016, New York State Supreme Court denied her request to be freed from her recording contract which keeps ties with Dr. Luke, but SONY record later released a statement saying that they were ready and willing for Kesha to come back and release music but this time with a different producer.

Even though Kesha wasn’t able to fully get out of her contract SHE STILL WON!

She is now able to record HER OWN MUSIC with a different producer without Dr. Luke. What Kesha did took extreme courage. She stood up for herself and fought with all that she had not just mentally, but emotionally as well for her creative freedom. Not only that but she fought to get away from a monster, an abuser, and a sexual predator! She stood in open court and faced this monster, even though The New York State Court System failed to help free her from the hell she was being put through she didn’t give up! Until she was finally granted a saving grace.

THIS… This is a woman that girls of all ages should look up to.

She got through this with courage, strong will and grace, and class.
