I considered myself very privileged to have a guy best friend, in which neither of us are physically attracted to each other. It’s kind of like having a relationship, only a little better at times, because with friends I know with certainty, just as he will always be there for me, I will be there for him too.
But if having a guy best friend, has taught me anything, it’s how I deserve to be treated. Not only that, but he refuses to let me settle, if I ever consider someone not worthy
So I’m going to share some pearls of wisdom, of what you do deserve because it is out there. And that man you don’t think exists, does. The moment you stop lowering those standards, you have allowed in settling, you’ll find he’ll be there too.
It’s okay to ask for things you want, no matter how unrealistic you may think they are.
I’m here to tell you it isn’t unrealistic at all, and this is what you actually deserve.
And sometimes, when you ask for something you'll find you get it.
To the person who has ever questioned what they deserve or has settled…
This is for you.
You deserve flowers just because, someone wants to make you smile.
You deserve someone who supports you, and encourages you to chase your dreams, no matter how crazy they may seem. You don’t deserve someone, who makes you feel like the crazy one.
You deserve someone who is there for you all the time, not just when they feel like.
You deserve arms holding you at your weakest and helping you to become strong. Not someone who knocks you down, to feel stronger.
You deserve someone who wipes your tears away, and doesn’t cause them.
You deserve someone who just wants to lay there with you in bed, as you contemplate the bigger questions in life. Not someone who makes you feel alone as you lay there with company.
You deserve phone calls answered in the late hours when you’re fighting with your parents, not just some booty call at 2AM.
You deserve someone who respects you as a woman, not someone who is using you because you are one.
You deserve spontaneous road trips, where you talk for hours and you don’t even remember what it was about, but you know it was the best conversation ever.
You don’t deserve someone who makes you drive hours just to see them. It’s about meeting the other person half way. And if you get half way and the person isn’t there, instead of walking the same distance to meet them, you’ll be doing yourself a favor if you turn around.
You deserve never spending your birthday alone and not having to wish for anything because the reality in which this person has created, is greater than any fairytale.
You deserve your favorite candy, you can eat guiltlessly. Not someone who makes you feel bad for it.
You deserve someone who you look at with confidence, not someone who leaves you confused.
You deserve endless laughs, until you are laughing so hard, you cry. Not someone who makes you go to bed with a wet pillow full of tears.
You deserve slow dances, on a bridge, with white lights as they sing, with no music. Because I’m proof it can happen.
You deserve every fight to be resolved, even if you’re screaming and fighting in the pouring rain. The right person won’t let you walk away angry. And you’ll learn making up is even better.
You deserves someone who follows you, even when you take off. Not someone who pushes you away.
You deserve someone who is honest, not someone who is keeping you on your toes.
You deserve someone who plays games with you, by the fire in a snowstorm, not someone who is playing you.
You deserve every cliche to become reality. Because love really is what it’s cracked up to be.
You deserve someone who makes you a better version of yourself, and makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. Because you are. You don’t deserve someone who makes you feel like you aren’t good enough.
You deserve someone who loves you, and only you.
You deserve someone who wants you, and only you.
But most of all you deserve someone who makes you realize, why it never worked out with anyone from your past.
