7 Reasons Why Happiness Makes You Beautiful, Not The Other Way Around

So many of us have grown up surrounded by what the media thinks of as “Beauty.” It’s a never ending scrapbook of airbrushed photographs of skinny models, smiling from ear to ear. We look at these photographs and think, if only I could look like that, I’d be happy.

The truth is, those photographs we grew up with are not what true beauty looks like. They’re just doctored images, the fantasy of one person’s mind.

Real beauty isn’t so easy. It’s a delicate force that is coaxed out. It’s shy. It’s not so simple as a mini-skirt, stiletto heels and makeup. It hides within each and every one of us and comes out through a little thing we call happiness. It does this in a number of ways.

1. There’s something so attractive about a person with a smile on their face.

When you look at someone who is smiling from their soul, you can see a light that’s shining out of them that just isn’t there when they’re not. It stops you cold and warms your heart.

To see a real smile will make even the “ugliest” people beautiful, if only for a few seconds.

2. A content person exudes pure love.

If you watch people who really love what they’re doing and you catch them at the end of a long day, they have this look of deep satisfaction on their face. It looks like a slight smile under hooded eyes, as subtle as the glint of morning dew under the rising sun.

3. Happy people do beautiful things.

Happy people are more likely to be kind. They’re the ones who perform random acts of kindness for complete strangers.

They have so much love in their heart because they’ve found a way to fill their own cup, to make themselves happy. This makes them willing and able to spread happiness as far as they can.

4. They also think beautiful things.

There’s nothing uglier than bitterness and resentment, even on the “prettiest” of people. Happy people have mostly  good thoughts, and this shines out of them all the time.

5. Happiness doesn’t age.

Some may grow old and regret the years gone by. Happy people don’t seem to age as much because that youthful glow of possibility is still there.

6. When you’re happier, you’re healthier.

Studies show that people who are happy are more likely to be and stay healthy their entire lives. They have energy from all that happiness, so they’re more likely to be active, to eat things that are good for them, and to generally enjoy life because of it.

7. And probably more optimistic.

Happy people are always looking at the bright side, and so their whole outlook on life is beautiful. What’s that saying – beautiful life, beautiful wifey? I think that’s the saying.

It’s time we stop focusing on being hot and focus on being happy and beautiful instead.
